Eunos Cosmo 20b

So while hunting online for suitable family cars (Mazda Millenia's, Lexus LS430's, Volvo S60 T5's, etc... damn those kids needing proper rear seats!), I came across a '90 Eunos Cosmo 20b for sale. I've loved the look of those cars ever since I laid my eyes on one a few years back and, as such, would love to pick one up. From the pictures it looks in pretty good shape, yet the price seems to be a bit on the cheap side. I'm very serious about dumping my current project car and seeing if this thing is worth picking up.

However...

My knowledge on rotory engines in general is limited, and is basically non-existent for the 20b. As well, I've no idea what sort of things are common problems with the Cosmo. I'm going to give the owner a call tomorrow and schedule a time for me to check it out. I'd kinda like to know what I'm looking for, though.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

check the apex seals.......how original of a response thats like saying check those piston rings.

for one thing on any rotaries, please mind that although cool and different, to be able to drive it, you'll need aircare which is at times a pain in the ass with rotaries.

your wife won't be happy after you say you are getting a 4dr luxury sedan, but ending up getting a 2dr JDM coupe with practically no rear space for your kids...lol

Damn I keep seeing that ad on craigslist, and that car is nice... Much nicer than all the other JDM cars that have around "80000 KM"

Well it is JDM so that could be a drawback
And it is quite powerful so like above said, it's a rotary so it'll probably be bad on gas even before all that power

And is this really a "suitable family car"? If you had the extra money to spend as a pleasure vehicle seems like this would be stellar though

Haha, the girlfriend wont mind too much. I'd only be dumping my current project car for another one; I'm still looking for a nice luxo sedan.

I'd say go for it after getting it fully checked out. That is dirt cheap for that car. They have so much potential ie 5speed swap. I'd just find out about some of the non interchangeable parts, then try to find a jdm part importer that can get them/check to see if Mazda dealers can get them.
