shitty thing is they were apparently all human caused. I hope they were accidentially caused and not purposely started; not that it makes it better either way. Please be careful out there people, the conditions are super dry. I know up here as of noon on friday there is a total fire ban, so no campfires even allowed.

Last of the West Kelowna evacuees got to go home this afternoon... 14 other people evacuated from the Terrace Mountain fire a bit to the north.
And in other news, several residents returned home to find their houses had been broken into and looted.
It's things like this that scream for the reinstatement of lynch mobs... low-lifes who would do that deserve to be strung up in public.

The smoke/air quality is getting pretty bad. I'm at my girlfriend's place in Salmon Arm and this was the view from her deck about three hours ago. By now it's moved quite a distance over. By tomorrow morning we're not going to be able to see the sky at all.  | |

yeah we're starting to get the smoke from the Terrace Fire creating a haze here; I noticed it on the way to work at 7 this morning. Damn there's a possibility of thunder/lightning storms, that's absolutely wonderful to hear with these tinder dry conditions

Or better yet... | that's what happened with the last fire. one guy had even built his house to be fireproof, but he stayed as late as he could because people kept trying to rob his house.

2009 terrace mountain fire - 4000 hectares sofar but i expect it to double by tomorrow
2003 kelowna fire - 25,000 hectares
1988 yellowstone fires - 325,000 hectares
1910 idaho fires - 1,250,000 hectares (largest in modern history) IN TWO DAYS!

mike dont forget the fire in australia the other year, not as large, but it was moving so fast quite a number of people died in it
on another note, me danny and ryan couldnt have chosen a better week to visit the island haha
