Just wondering if anyone knew of a comparable product to buy? (i think gatsby has a similar consistancy product).

My boyfriend uses American Crew Fiber.... u get the hold without the shine.

ilvtofu 07-30-2009 08:38 PM

I've tried many different clays/wax? and they don't usually shine, but definitely want something that holds stronger. Suggestions?

nosleepboy87 07-30-2009 09:09 PM

i am using redken products right now
and they hold great with no shine

try using gatsby moving rubber, the grey colored one, it's called Grunge Mat, it's got strong hold and Matte, goes for around $15 locally, but in asia it's about $7.50 CDN

I personally tried the gray Gatsby, and it has a somewhat weaker hold than the Redken that a stylist used when I got a hair cut some time ago.

Pink Gatsby is pretty decent hold and doesn't have much shine, but I want to try the purple since it seems to be the middle man for pink and grey. Problem is, every time I go to T&T, they don't have any, and I don't really want to go to Richmond or Crystal Mall just to get hair product.

Yeah, found out the hard way with a Japanese gel that I got. Dried the hell out of my hair and basically created an afro out of my short hair. Purple seems balanced though.

Do the waxes last just as long in the heat?
well i guess depends if u sweat a lot...

Gatsby Moving Rubber Grunge Mat - $12.99, worldwide shipping

If you are having problems with hold when using a clay, you can add a holding clay to use just on the spikes. This can work better than hair spray, which sometimes doesn't adhere to clay.

Gatsby has - Twist & Spikes Clay

I use Mod's Hair Power 5 Clay for my short hair (mohawk). It has a mat finish and good hold (I do use hair spray)

Places to buy? only T&T has been listed, and i assume its for Gatsby.
I look in places like SDM,london drugs << they have nothing like Clay; only wax/pomade etc.

Places like Crystal Mall, and I THINK a few places at Aberdeen sell it as well, a few salons I believe.

I need to re-stock mine. Haven't used any in about 4 months, and the way my hair looks with other products shows it.

Ikkaku 08-09-2009 01:33 PM

a shop at the deeper end of parker place phase 2 should still carry it, near the embroidery place.

tamoose 08-09-2009 07:03 PM

this person sells Gatsby moving rubber hair wax for $11 each ..or $30 for three.. best deal yet so far..

+1 for Sebastian crude clay!!!

I use Sebastian Xtah Crude clay plus some hair spray with a blow dryer. :D

S1 S2 08-15-2009 07:12 PM

I used to use xtah crude clay, but even washing it off everyday took awhile.

So I switched to Gatsby Moving Rubber.

Wash hair, blow dry, and then try using the grey one to run through your hair, then use purple one to detail it (twist).

On Robson st, theres a Jap convenience store that sell Gatsby products. ($15) ea I think.

^ Konbinya right? I've always wanted to go there, but I haven't had time to do so.

sonick 08-15-2009 07:55 PM

Giesel Matt Clay. Get it at BeautyPlus at RichmondCenter.

http://style06.com/wp-content/upload...lay_korean.jpg

I've used Gatsby, Sebastien's Crude Clay, American Crew Fiber, some redken stuff, nothing comes close to the look and washability of Giesel.

Yup!

dachinesedude 08-15-2009 10:40 PM

Sebastian Xtah Crude Clay holds hair like freaking glue, very sticky stuff but no shine at all, which is good i guess

skyxx 08-16-2009 12:11 AM

^ I like it cause sometimes you accidentally mess your hair up. Then you can fix it again. Awesome stuff.
