For something a little different, I like the marinated pork subs at Pho Thai Hoa. Moist, juicy pork.

Oh man, I've been to Tiem Banh Dong 4-5 times a week for the past 6 weeks or so.

On a side note, their raisin twist, cassava cake and durian bun are also worth looking into

Tung Hing Bakery (Tiem Banh Dong Khanh) hands down.

Its all about the bread, and they perfected it.

This.

In my opinion the best banh mi "baguette" I've found in the city. They also sell the full length baguettes for $2.75.

There are a couple of places I'd say would have a better filling like the sublet space (?) inside Golden Garden on Main St. in Chinatown, but the bread makes the sandwich and those other joints use inferior bread.

Their bread is, by far, the best I've had in Vancouver.

If you guys ever head down to white rock / south surrey area try

Beansprout Bubble Tea House, sell Vietnamese subs there. It's pretty good and it's close since I live near there. It's King George BLVD and 148th.

In Vancouver, Chong Lee on Rupert was alright since I used to go to school around there, it's hit and miss.

I haven't had bread better than at tung hing.
If you've got time to kill, just sit there and wait until the bread comes straight out of the oven. It just melts in your mouth.

so good.

I could never bring myself to paying $8 for a banh mi when the traditional ones in Vancouver are only $3ish. Also, IIRC their bun/bread is different? :S

Apparently they're a bit bigger. I think they might be trying to look more "upscale" compared to the other places too.

Ba le > Tung Hing Bakery

Use to love dong thanh subs back like 7 years ago but the last couple of years they've been skimping out on the ingredients.
