Driving with cell phone?

A friend of mine just got a warning for talking on cell while driving....
Is this rule officially established? The cop told him the fine was going to be$278 and no point was issued if hand out the ticket

He was pulled over while stuck in traffic ... lol

when did this law come in to effect? Wasn't it just in "consideration" stage?

there is no mention of it on the ICBC website. there is a "Safe Cell Phone Use - It's Your Call" info sheet.

I did a search of the MVA and I couldnt find any new ammendments.

ilvtofu - please provide link or post to this new law

I dont think this is a law in BC..

in the easter provinces i pretty sure it is..

but not here..

I haven't heard anything beyond the fact that the public consultation period on the issue has ended.

maybe the cop was having a bad day in traffic ?

so this law is not in effect yet , correct ?

Probably would have been a diive without due care $368 or reasonable consideration $196...no such cell phone fine exists and no fine for $278 that I'm aware of. These tickets would have to be issued after seeing driving that fit the charge criteria so if your friend got warned, they must have been driving badly.
