Good and quick tire shop in the states?

i will be heading to portland this sat night for the long weekend, so i might as well take advantage of tire savings from no tax.

which tire shop is good and quick? id prefer a place near portland.
i am looking for 215/50/17 tires, mainly falken 912 or anything thats quiet. these are backups for roadtrips.

cheapest i can find is $94 on discounttiredirect but i will have to pay taxes and duties for it...

any other decent tires u guy will choose?

Hey...I'm heading down on the weekend too!

As for Discount Tire Direct, why would you have to pay taxes and duties? By the way, Discount Tire has retail stores as well so see if any of the stores have your desired tire in stock (in Portland of course). That way you don't have to pay local sales tax.

As for whether you pay crossing the border...well...you should declare them (esp if you haven't really bought that much) but...well...you know where that conversation goes...

if i get itfrom discounttiredirect, then i will have to ship it to point roberts and have them ding me for PST/GST+duties = 20%

if i get it from a tire shop down in oregon, then i don't need to pay local taxes, and i might not need to pay for duties coming back to canada because i get $400 exemption.

get it?

i checked discount tires retail shops down in the states, they charge $120/pc for falken 512, and online is only $86. so not a good deal.

Yep - what valent|n0 said - just call them up and tell them how much it is on their site. They will price match their site.

Just make sure they have it in stock. You may have to pay for mount/balancing although you can probably negotiate that too with them.

fml......

don't bother buying tires down there. i just called and all the shops are closed for labour day. unless you want the department store brands, it's not going to be worth it. sigh.
