Disputing in another location If you dispute a Ticket, that you received in a city far from your house.. do you have to go to Court there at that distan Location.. for Example.. I got a Ticket in Abbotsford (Was there visiting my sister).. However i live on Vancouver island.. Taking a Day off work, and then paying ferry's Etc.. doesnt seem right.. Can i call the Court house once i get a date, and request the location be changed, or.. what options to I have.. Thanks |
I've always wondered, why doesn't it seem right? I mean you're taking the court's time AND the officer who issued you the ticket's time. If it was a Vancouver Island, the officer would need to do all that you listed above and how would that be fair? |
Do the crime...do the time...where it happened. :) It is not possible to do what you want. You would have Cops flying all over BC just to accommodate a disputant, who would likely not appear. About 80 plus% of my disputants never appeared. I used to work in northern Vancouver Island. Tickets were in Port Hardy Criminal court and it was frustrating to drive there, spend overnight in a hotel, go to court the next day and they didn't show. Complete waste of 2 day's work time. In ciminal cases if you are pleading guilty you can have the trial waved to your local courthouse to enter the plea sometimes. Not VTs. |

What if you go to dispute and lose? Then you've taken a day off work, paid ferry fare AND still have to pay the ticket. :haha: |
