i watched it and i liked it. it's not scary like pop out of nowhere slasher flick, it's more along the lines of freaky.

watching this with a bunch of friends may ruin the film. in the theatres, some people were laughing so it was hard to really get into the film. even then, it wasn't that scary.
For some people, this is how they deal with being scared. They try mock or laugh at it.

I watched it in the theatres myself and observed some of the same phenomenon you noticed. But I wonder how many of these same people could handle watching that movie alone by themselves in a contained isolated setting. (which is how I like watching my scary movies).

I saw the movie tonight and it was over hyped. it wasn't really scary, but it did keep me on edge a few times and made me uncomfortable. so i guess it did it's job somewhat.

but i wish i saw some of the other endings i read instead, cause this ending wasn't that great.

I watched it today, i thought it was pretty creepy and enjoyed the simplicity of it that created the creepy effect.

I didnt think it was a waste of money.

If you're on REVscene for movie reviews, you'll end up missing a lot of good movies as the majority of the RS population are folks that don't really like to think a lot when they're watching a movie. You'll end up missing great movies like The Hurt Locker or Inglourious Basterds because there's "too much talking" or something and end up watching garbage like Transformers 2.

That being said, I saw this tonight and while there are genuine scary moments, I wouldn't call it a particularly scary movie. You'll think twice the next time you hear strange noises in the house but there isn't enough here to grasp and create that scare in your mind.

The scariest part of the movie is the fact that it is all made very realistically. If someone told you the footage was real, it wouldn't be a huge surprise as there are no visible effects. There's no soundtrack and there are periods of time where nothing happens...it build tension very well.

However, I have to say that the tension is sort of wasted since you know something is going to happen every time the lights turn off and there's no real surprise factor there.

Slightly above average movie for me.

Watched this with my fiancee and we both thought it was boring and not scary at any level ... we were both falling asleep like 20 mins into the movie (me cause it was boring, her cause the camera was making her dizzy) ... even when it started to escalate, we both didn't feel creeped out or anything ... I slept well right after and I'm the kinda person who gets freaked out by this kinda genre of scary movies ...

To compare it to something, for anyone who watches the Supernatural TV show, its more scary than this movie and the TV show isn't really that scary ...

Watched this with a few friends last night at their place. We had no idea what it was about and killed all the lights etc while watching. In the setting, and with people committed to watching it, it was scary.

I don't get all the hate for this film.
