Is it legal to have a passenger on a bicycle designed for one? Is it legal to have a passenger on a bicycle designed for one? For example, one person riding the bike with a second sitting on the pannier rack. |
183(2) A person operating a cycle (f) must not ride other than on or astride a regular seat of the cycle, (g) must not use the cycle to carry more persons at one time than the number for which it is designed and equipped, |
a lot of things aren't "legal" but cops wont care |
I'd much rather have cops ticketing speeders in school zones/ppl illegally passing on the right in school zones than taking time out of their day to ticket people riding double on bikes. |
but then again, I have to say that the police should really tighten their grip on cyclists. I've seen way too many bicycles not obeying traffic signs, running red lights, not stopping at stop signs (not even slowing down) etc... and they say drivers give them trouble for no obvious reason. I was taught in elementary school that "IF YOU ARE ON THE ROAD, YOU ARE A ROAD USER THUS YOU SHOULD OBEY ALL THE RULES" ^I guess that dosen't apply to cyclists anymore? |
Thanks for the reply :) |
