car impounded ! - HELP

Long story short, my license was suspended for 12hrs and my car was impounded for DUI.

Im not the registered owner of the car.
I called busters towing, they said i need an authorization letter which i faxed but when i called again, they now said i need the registered owner to come in and claim it.

my mother is the registered owner but she is out of town until dec. because my grandpa is sick...

the person on the line said my best bets were to call the manager.

any help is appreciated.

Suspension + Impounded = Pwned
DUI = Fail

Your best bet is to wait until your mother comes back and then realizes that you got the car impounded because you were drinking and driving, and then lays the smack down.

But hey, you'll eventually get the car back!

call the manager and see if they will charge your storage for a whole month until your mom gets back. IF they say no charges or whatever arrangements you make, ask for it in writing. these tow places make their $$$ on storage.

did you get a sec.215 24hr suspension or a FAIL for blowing over? they're quite different from one another. one's a Motor Vehicle Act violation, the other is a Criminal Code violation. both with very different legal consequences.

in any case, you said that you had an authorization letter? from whom? the registered owner (ie: your mother)?

My friend had the exactl same scenario as you, with his moms car and gettng a 24hr. He was able to bring the car back the next day, his mom never found out that the car was impounded, so it can be done.

And ya, if you can get that thing out of there or you'll get raped to shit.

wtf.. since when do they give out 12 hour suspensions?
I thought the min. was 24 hours.

For all you people giving him shit.. I hope you realize just how easy it is to get a 24 hour.
If you go by what they typically say you can drink per hour without blowing over I'd be completely sober.

the car is under your mom's name but who's the primary driver?

i was under the impression that if you're neither the registered owner or primary driver you shouldn't be driving the car?

if you are one or the other you should be able to pick up the car

and if busters insist on being anal probably get your mom to sign and fax

DUI and 24 hour are 2 different things..
I believe a DUI is a criminal matter. A 24 hour might just effect your insurance..
