Same Family Name??

.

canadianaboy 11-08-2009 03:23 AM

I would personally go about it, if you like them, why not, if you really are curious, try digging into their family background. You never know, it is common for people to have the same last name, there is only few that are unique and a few families have them. I once dated a girl with the same last name and didn't really think too much about it because if you were related eventually someone from the family would find out, ie. they see you or their family recognizes her

BD2002 11-08-2009 03:28 AM

I wouldn't have thought it would have been an issue at all...

to me, having the same last name is not really an issue either.

cctw 11-08-2009 09:39 PM

not an issue..same last name is pretty common..esp. chinese....just make sure you aren't blood related lol

rien 11-08-2009 10:04 PM

shouldn't be a big deal, b/c a lot of last names are really common

ie. mine > nguyen, 40% of viet population according to wikipedia

G 11-08-2009 10:06 PM

not an issue at all...maybe even easier, so you don't need to change anyone's last name after marriage :P...

Yeah I'd go with this response. :)

Assuming s/he's not a family member, of course. (you didn't explicitly point this out!)

tonyvu 11-09-2009 10:08 AM

not an issue for me, just a coincidence to like someone that has the same last name as you.

Conan O'Brien Sex Video 11-09-2009 10:52 AM

If you're worried, do some digging into the family background like canadianaboy suggested... see if your families are from the same village.

t8v6 11-09-2009 01:05 PM

as long as your date's not your long lost sister or cousin or whatever..i think it's fine

ilvtofu 11-09-2009 04:19 PM

No biggie, if you're chinese and expected to date someone who's chinese it's not unlikely to hit someone with the same last name. Don't worry about it, no one will think you're bro/sis/cousin/etc. if you have the same last name... unless you're one of those creepy couples that look identical...

Who cares really? Especially for Chinese people.. There are only a few hundred Chinese surnames, for a billion people. There is going to be some overlap :lol

My wife's sister had the same FIRST name as her BF, in Chinese. That's kind of funny, but not a big deal (since they rarely go by their Chinese names)

not a big deal, but just make sure they aren't distant cousins, haha

distanc3 11-10-2009 11:38 AM

no issue.

UNLESSSSSSSSS

shes the only child? so she get someone with the same last name to retain the same family name =P

JDMStyo 11-10-2009 04:08 PM

As long as you are ok that 5,000 years ago, your grand(to n power)-parents used to be siblings

In the end we're all distantly related. Don't think of it as incest.

Kim Jong Un 11-10-2009 04:23 PM

s'all good you're just humping one of you're far cousin!

Graeme S 11-10-2009 05:32 PM

Whatever, in canada even first cousins are allowed to marry.
