How to make Sushi Garden Alaska Roll Sauce?!

Anyone have a clue? It's soo good I think it's got crack in it or something.

Also, anyone know how to make a proper Gomae sauce? (Like the Sushi Garden one?)

Same sauce @ Sushi California as well!

dton13 11-12-2009 08:29 PM

HAHAH i used to think it had crack in it as well. My buddies and I have schemed to steal the bottles that have the sauce in it just to see what its made of. Sort of tastes a bit like the japanese salad dressing sauce, but I don't know.

I could have sworn Alaska roll sauce at Sushi Garden and Sushi California is just the common vinegarette type dressing used on salads at Japanese restaurants.

I always thought an "Alaska Roll" was just a "California Roll" with salmon added to it. And the only "sauce" that's in there is mayo.

Alaska rolls are interpreted differently at each restaurant you visit, but this thread is specifically referring the the Alaska rolls at Sushi Garden (and Sushi California), which have a vinegarette type dressing on them that is very similar or the same as the japanese dressing used on salads. It is not mayo based.

The Alaskan Roll at Sushi Garden is like a California roll except it has only avocado in the middle, and a thin slice of salmon outside.

look at the good sushi thread.

hachi sushi (and similar ones) are real sushi that one can ENJOY.

sushi california (and other ones comparable to samurai) are "fast food/quantity" sushi when I feel like i want to eat like a champ.

then there are fucked up sushi (the fusion ones), that charges 200% more because they have a special name attached like "Mango Jizz Paradise Bukkake" for $10.

btw, i recently found a pretty good sushi place, Fuji sushi by north road and como lake. it's the best sushi so far close to SFU..

Senna4ever 11-14-2009 11:57 PM

Fuji is alright. They only have farmed Atlantic Salmon though - no wild Pacific Salmon.

Now, back on to topic....

I use to visit Fuji Sushi quiet often, sometimes they will have wild salmon in stock but I haven't been there for a while so maybe it's changed since then?

Uh...wtf.

You do know that "jap" is considered by some as derogatory racial term.

However, although many people today use it harmlessly as an abbreviation for "Japanese", some people don't take a liking to that.

Kinda like when you call your (non-black) friends niggers.

No, you idiot. The term 'Jap' is a racist term...like saying Chink, Nigger, etc.
