Just Curious about your jobs as policemen/women

Do you guys actually have quotas to fill? IE you have to give out a certain amount of tickets / time period?

Some detachments/sections have certain expectations and goals, others don't.

The only official quota I was subject to was in Fort St. John. I was not allowed to have more than 30% of my tickets be for speeding offences. Otherwise, I was just required to do a reasonable day's work.

Today, RCMP traffic personnel are required to spend 30% of their time on seatbelts, 30% on impaired driving and 30% on speeding and aggressive driving.

I take it from your wording, that means they're expected to spend that percentage enforcing or concentrating on those areas, but there's not an expectation that the percentage of tickets should match?

That's correct. To me, one impaired equals many tickets.

Remember, "impaired" doesn't JUST mean "drunk".

Agreed. I've pulled 9 off the road in the last 2.5 months alone and while I was writing those ones up, I heard my co-workers getting even more.
