Those where the cables that came with the bike. They were pre crimped so I gotta cut them down when my crimper tool comes in the mail, the front brake cable was routed that way for now while I wait to shorten it. They work well for now though

Fuck, I knew I should have rode to work today. Some fucking whack job groped me on the skytrain today. Didn't see it from behind and he grabbed my ass as hard as he could and fucking booked it out of the skytrain just as the doors were about to close to leave the station. Main station is full of freaks.

Asked if anyone on the train saw that and they just asked if I was ok. All I could say was I'm fine. wtf.

And would you tell us if it was a hot chick grabbing your ass?

I don't think you'd like that at all. azncreationz has seen me before and I'm sure he can attest to the fact that I am not sexy at all.

Anyways, what can I do next time if that happens, I can't punch the offender in the face can I?

Today was the true test for my State bike going from SE Vancouver to the edge of West Van, coming back I stopped at ambleside dock. Damn it was chilly today especially on the stanley park cause way. Bike held together well at speed. I was kinda scared the fork might crack as I've never seen Essor as a carbon brand before. All in all, it is a decent single. They have railing there now finally.

If the guy with the teal rapha is on here that let me pass on the Lion's gate, thanks for noticing me coming up fast this morning. Sorry for being a dick by not letting you know I was passing.

Only thing I can say, those wheels on the bike are sketchy. Anyone know any good deals for some Mavic ellipse?

Wow, Ridley Noah. Nice!

How are you liking the ride quality of the frame? I may consider getting a Ridley as my next frame some time down the road (re: not any time soon) as the geometry is better suited for me.

I'm loving it so far. It weighs to about 17lbs and is extremely stiff yet comfortable on a ride. And I must compliment the paint job on the frame. It's extremely high quality with some areas exposing the carbon weaving.

Any recommendations for U-locks? In addition to locking it up where you can keep and eye on it and don't leave it unattended for extended periods of time of course. TIA.

Higher end Kryptonite (New York or Fahgettaboutit) or Abus locks seems to be the general consensus, but by no means absolutely theft proof. For every recommendation, there seems to be YouTube video of said lock that's been cut be thieves. So yeah, keep a good eye on your bike whenever you have to leave it, and take all accessories (lights, saddlebag, etc) with you.
I think the tool of choice to break through locks is a battery operated grinder, considering how many I've seen at the police auctions. (Yes, it's kind of ironic that they re-sell the tools that are used to steal property, but that's another topic). Also small jacks.

A word of caution out at Iona in Richmond... An Escape Velocity member doing a TT ride solo out there this afternoon got smoked by a car turning out of UPS. He was riding on the bike path shoulder going 43km/hr and a car made a left turn and took him out. Lost consciousness but didn't break anything.

Ride safe out there. Good idea to have lights on day and night... But shit drivers will be shit drivers

Anybody know of a Trek / Cannondale dealer willing to deal? Caps Westwood in Poco is closest to my house but they won't do a single dollar discounted off of manufacturer sale price and honestly have been only average to deal with considering I am just itching to buy a $3k+ bike. Torn between Trek Emonda and Cannondale Synapse, both carbon with 105 and Ultegra drive trains for similar pricing.

I think most dealers for the big brands are hooped. Prices are becoming much more fixed and dealers aren't allowed much flexibility on price. The only time you can get a great "deal" is when you start looking at their top-tier bikes. Most of the time, that top-tier $13K bike will sell for $9K, and that's considered a "deal" these days.

Times are tough, and the bike industry has changed a lot.

I would try South Shore Cycles in Surrey. They just recently had another 'sale' last weekend and there were a few Emonda's marked down. Price also included a fitting at Catalyst.

I wasn't aware that there were deals to be had on bike prices. Was it / is it still common practice? What kind of discounts were you guys looking at for 3-4K bikes?

I'm actually looking at the Trek as well. I'm still debating between the Emonda SL5/SL6 ( $450 more for ultegra groupset ) or the Domane 4.3/4.5 Disc; Gut feeling tells me the Emonda is a more versatile bike, but Domane has the disc brakes, which seem to be becoming the standard... worried that rim brakes are going to become obsolete, and buying into it would be a mistake?
