Pacific Centre "Sarb" prob one of the more "chill ones"
Or wait till Marine Drive Sportchek grand opening sale...September 27th...20% off entire store...

Richmond Centre "Sean" might also do it....shirley definately won't...

Good luck, let us know how you make out!

thanks, are you timing yourself going up Cypress? What kind of times are you doing for the hill?

I am thinking of doing this run, but I think this week I'm just going to try and make it to the base of Cypress from Knight and 25th in East Van.
When you get over the lions gate bridge, do you head west along Marine Drive in West Van?

purchased my first bike!

decided to get the jamis ventura comp 2011, used team assist, but didnt get the 699 pricing, oh well, came out to 717 after taxes with 50 GC which i'll get a helmet or shorts.

cant wait for pick up tomorrow, hopefully i'll get a few rides before season is over!

thanks all that helped me

Edit: so the office called because I called yesterday before buying about the pricing and they called today saying the price should be the same so I'm going back when I pick up the bike today to get the price adjusted!

nothing that you've never seen before, but heres the bike.

now send an email to sportchek customer service
just as a "friendly" inquiry, saying you noticed that the women's version of the exact same bike is $100 cheaper, and ask why men have to pay more......dont be a dick about it, but just ask the question.
70% chance they might response saying they'll match the price for you after the fact.

I'm sure most of you guys that ride a road bike have a saddle bag for spare kit, tools, phone etc...

Do some of you use ones with a quick release mech?

I've been using one I bought from MEC for the last few weeks, but I keep getting a worrying feeling that the things gonna snap/fly off one day... and that would suck big time if I lost my iphone in there with it! LOL...

This is the one I got: Sci'con Pin 695 RL 2.1 Cordura Seat Bag - Mountain Equipment Co-op. Free Shipping Available

I'm almost considering buying a more simple one that just velcro's on instead of quick release...

-----
Update on my Chain Reaction Cycles order: I placed the order last saturday afternoon (free shipping), and my package cleared customs yesterday and should be out for delivery via Canadapost on Monday. I'll do a mini review and update you guys if I get charged any taxes. My order was $420.00CDN

I prefer the simple velcro ones. I haven't seen many of the quick release ones but I know Fizik has a system integrated into their seats (which IMO aren't that great but YMMV.)

I use this bag in the front: MEC Bicycle Frame Bag - Mountain Equipment Co-op. Free Shipping Available

and this one on the saddle: EVO 5-Piece Multifunction Bike Kit w/ Seat Bag - SportChek.ca

The saddle bag has both velcro and plastic clips but I zap strapped them into place. I never lock up my bike unattended anywhere so I don't need the quick release feature.

Climbed up SFU on Gaglardi today with Alphamale.

There was a 44cm cannondale at bsp but she was hitting the top tube

Not to make fun of the situation but maybe a kids size bike? How tall is she? My friend's wife is pretty short (I forgot how tall) but she was VERY lucky and found I think it was a either a XS or XXS Devinci hybrid at The Bike Doctor. Nobody in town had anything else. Also, keep in mind womens-specific bikes are designed to fit women better.

She's like 4 foot 9 lol

She sat on a hybrid kona bike at cove bikes in size 45. The top tube was really angled so she kinda fit it

But 42 would likely fit her just hard to find one locally that size

I'll try the bike doctor we're gonna drive by there soon

I should mention that it was the last one she bought and that was back in June.

Hope you find something for her though!

This is a stretch but have you looked at any of the bikes at MEC for her?

Mec bikes were too big and too expensive lol

So here's a mini review with ChainReactionCycles.com based in Europe

I placed my order online August 18 Saturday afternoon.

Items were processed and shipped out on Tuesday the 21st.

Delivered in my hands just now Monday the 27th.

Order totaled $419cdn including free shipping

Shimano xc60 shoes
Giro atmos helmet
Shimano multi release cleats
Shimano a530 pedals
Funkier cycling shoes with ass pad.

No tax charged at boarder. A+++++++

Buy your shit online lol

In fairness, it isnt always cheaper to buy there...

I went to BSP and got my last year's carbon road shoes which I got to actually try on and fit plus a very nice Cannondale helmet for $240 including tax. It would have cost me the same or more to get them online and I'd be taking a chance on fitment. But I got my 105 pedals, cycle computer, bottle cage, and saddle bag online and got a sweet deal on them.
