Trust me....it wasn't disposable income. It was an INCREDIBLE deal....as in, so incredible if i wanted to sell it today, I'd make 300 more than I paid for it.

Thanks for the suggestion! I hadn't heard of them before, but I checked them out today. They carried Mavic shoes, but not what I was looking for--road shoes. That said, the woman working there was great with helping me try to find a shoe that fit, even though I did not end up buying anything. Her dog was super cool as well! +1 to On the Rivet.

Anyway, can someone recommend some good water-resistant booties? I'm getting new shoes soon and I want to baby them.

Also, tips for 1st time clipless?

Was a roomates bike. It's a single gear and it's pretty light. Don't know what happened to it.

My current bike. Got it for free. Needs a new back rim and tire. Needs a new cassette and a new chain... I try and ride it once a week but now that it's getting colder and darker earlier it's becoming difficult. I should invest in some lights for this thing, currently I have an LED flashlight taped to the front handlebars. Super Ghetto.

Here is a bunch of flicks of a house I used to live in. Bike graveyard/workshop.

Picked this up a little over a year and a half ago...Found it on craigslist for a fairly good deal I guess...
Craigslist FTW!!

Did the R2CC this past June on this...noticed that it was definitely not as fast as a true road bike (this is a Cyclocross bike, overall heavier, bigger rims, larger tires etc...) as i kept getting passed by all these people on road bikes...Then I realized it was actually just me when I started noticing older 60 year old cancer survivors passing me on their mountain bikes hahahaha

Just recently started training on a Kurt Kinetic indoor trainer using my Kona. Converted the rear tire into a slick for this purpose.

Need to get my back into shape after getting rear-ended in 2008. Hoping to re-build my cardio and muscles so I can start doing some more riding on the seawall etc. Looking for a bike at the moment but nothing in mind.

Edit: Rode my Fuji Absolute 1.0 in Los Angeles but may have to leave it there for the interim. Hopefully something good pops up on Craigslist soon.

I'm currently using the Sidi Design Nevada. It's a budget/entry-level Sidi that has provisions for cleats. I'm not doing anything crazy like triathalons or marathons but for $75 USD, so far it has been well worth the money.

Picking up a 2010 Scott Sub 30 on Monday.

Thinking about a Cinelli Mystic Rat or Bianchi Pista.
