I ordered from levis.com . "Red Ochre" is on sale for $30.90 and "Chinchilla" is on sale for $54.90.

I bought my other pair of Levi's Commuter pants in March for somewhere around $50.

Different Bikes are doing their annual clearance sale this weekend:

Norco Valence 3 Carbon for $1299 in 53, full carbon frame/fork and 105 groupset. Absolutely siiiicck deal with DB's renowned great service.
Valence Carbon « Road Endurance / Fitness « Road « Bikes « Norco Bicycles

They also have a Rocky Mountain Element MSL frame selling for $950 which is a pretty amazing price for this caliber carbon all mountain frame. But this category of bike seems to be shifting to 650b wheel size so buyer beware here.

In my experience with DB if you call in and give them a CC they can presell the bike/part to you early before the actual sale.

What's the difference between the Valence and the CRR?

not 100% sure but judging by the looks their geometries are different.

toptube of the valence slopes a lot more than the crr, so i'd think the CRR is more race oriented and valence is more relaxed.

It looks like the Valence line replaced the CRR line for 2012. The Valence is more relaxed, slightly longer ETT per given size, and ~10-15mm longer wheelbase primarily in the RC so you give up a bit of climbing prowess for better stability. The spec on Valence 3 is about equivalent to CRR 3 which cost ~$300 less MSRP in 2011 for what that's worth.

The seatstays in the Valence also look like the would do a better job handling road shock compared with the CRR.

Weird spec on the Valence 3 though with the compact 34/50 and 12-30 rear cogset.

Scored some free jerseys and shorts yesterday from a friend. Only a few years ago I swore I would never own a road bike or wear lycra...oh, how times change! (I have no plans to own over-the-shoe booties though ) I'm looking forward to having the jersey pockets to stash my stuffs on the next ride.

Hey guys/gals... Just a reminder to ride safely out there. If you haven't heard by now, there was a young lady who was on her bike last week in Burnaby and was tragically killed. I just found out today, that she's a friend of mine, who trained with me in the same Tri group.
Despite what the news reports say, I know she would not ride with her earphones in. She was an experienced cyclist, commuting to and from work everyday along that route.
What is even more heart wrenching is, she was 4 months pregnant too.
We will be riding out there this weekend to set up a memorial.

Just a wake up call to everyone, becareful and BE SAFE. I'm in shock over this, and I don't want to hear another tragic news story like this.

Some fucker decides to brake check me today.

Riding down Ontario towards Marine Dr, theres a bunch of these roundabout things and i was behind this guy in a Ford Escape, i guess he didnt like me following that close or something and decided to slam on the breaks in the middle of the next roundabout nothing to say he just drives off quickly.

Lucky i was on my MTB or else i woulda died

Shimano SLX FTW!

shoot. that's super sad, did the driver get charged at all?

i try to avoid main/busy roads as much as possible. if i can't avoid it then i make sure to "cater" to motorists because i know anyone on two wheels and lycra is automatically labelled a douchebag lol

That is absolutely horrible to hear. Goddammit....

Was she the cyclist that was hit by an SUV which ended up plowing into a building?

That was in Vancouver, no? I think he's talking about the one that occurred near the Brighton Costco on Burnaby at the train tracks

Man that's so heartbreaking. I'm not going to lie at first when I heard the news I thought "well she should've been paying more attention." But after hearing about her habits here I really wonder what happened. I feel so bad now..

1. What is your budget?
2. What do you plan on using it for (i.e. commute, fitness, recreation, off-road, etc.)?
3. What is your height and inseam?

I was actually looking at that same ad on CL but I can't stand the Sora thumb shifters. Thumb shifters mean you won't be able to gear up when your hands are in the drops.

Picked these up the other day. Almost gathered all parts for my build. Need shifters, brakes, front rim and tires.

Strictly my opinions only. Consider what others have to say as well.

1. You can get a new or use Tiagra level bike with that price but you have more options of you have a budget somehere between $750 - $1000. Bike stores are having sales now so now is a good time to look around.

2. Stick with the popular brands - Cannondale, Trek, Giant, Scott, Specialized etc. Again, for that price you have in mind, try to get at least a Tiagra level bike. Try it out for a season or two and if you don't like it, you can always sell it again without breaking the bank too much.

3. I'm generalizing but I think a 53 or 54cm bike would work for you. Always make sure it fits! Go to the store to figure that out first.

Good luck!
