I just finished my first road bike ride tonight with my new bike! Super glad I had my more experienced friend along with me to give me tips on clipless pedals and how to get the most out of a road bike. Just fell down once at the starts when I first clipped in - couldn't get the other foot in and I panicked. Ended up falling into a bush but it was fairly soft so all good.

I did manage to scratch my bike up already... Leant it against a wooden post using the saddle, it slipped and left three nice marks on the frame. Thank god they included a bottle of touch up paint with the bike.

All in all a pretty good day.

Thanks guys! I'm pretty sure your Cannondales are more expensive than mine... :P

The seat stay/top tube/seat tube triangle is a really unique feature, I like it a lot. This bike just wants to get up and go, compared to the Allez and the Synapse I tested before. Really powerful, but smooth. I like it a lot! Also, the color scheme is classic, and easy to match to clothing which is good.

604CEFIRO, I paid $1150 at Backcountry (aka Competitive Cyclist) and got taxed at the Point Roberts crossing for 5% GST, so a good deal considering the price in Canada is closer to 2 grand...

The BMC design isn't unique to them. GT in the 90s pioneered that design in their road bikes.

No, on their mountain bikes first!
Anyways, yes, Union and Gore, on that patch of grass..you can't miss it. I'll be there regardless, biking there after work, will try to remember to txt you.

Anybody go to the Jarvis auctions tonight? Lots of good deals to be had! Couldn't believe the prices didn't get inflated like the usual auctions. I should have got more, but controlled myself, only got 2 Cramerotti frames. More projects!

Rode today with a few of my buddies after work. Chill ride to Stanley Park and UBC.

Has anyone experienced a glitch with Strava? My best effort at Prospect Point climb at 3:27 and now at 22:19? haha

Who's free tomorrow to ride during the day? I have to do something in the evening but I'm free during the daytime. I'm really slow still though...

And I didn't know GT had that feature on their frames. Interesting!

Much more common on their older frames but still on some of their new ones.

Sooner or later, someone from this thread like one of the more experienced guy(s) here will need to volunteer to be some sort of RSnet ride embassador or something if ppl intend on meeting up and riding together.

Riding in a group larger than 3-4 ppl gets REALLY hectic really fast and can be very dangerous if everyone is new w/ limited understanding of group riding ettiquette.

I think if some of the newer guys want to learn how to ride in a group, those ppl should join one of the many clubs out there and do it in a safe and supportive environment.

And for those who are still really new, still tumbling and falling a lot, I'd probably recommend practicing more before attempting a group ride. There's so many variables when you've got so many wheels to watch out for.

maybe we should get together and just do laps of stanley park lol since it has less traffic and no intersections, then once we're familiar then we hit the roads another time haha

and during prospect point we can see 604 and steve n alphamale and other monsters disappear

I agree with the statements here. I had a more experienced friend to basically shepherd me along on the street, show me the ropes and get me going, basically. I plan to join some of the club rides available so that I get to know how to go together in a group environment - after I become more comfortable with my clipless pedals.

Stanley Park sounds like a good idea, but still a lot of bike traffic for me - I'm a total noob.

Might do a light ride on Sunday, depending on the level of hang over.

Maybe! However, I don't think either frame is your size. I'll have to double check the measurements, way too tired last night after helping friend unload his loot.
He got 14 frames, so he might have one in your size.

On a different note, anyone here have old TIME or CARNAC shoes? I've a bunch of shoe plate adapters so that you can mount regular 3 hole cleats. Brand new in package. FREE for the taking.

Whoa, so I placed and order on Wiggle on Wednesday for another set of Michelin Pro Race 4 tires, a BBB chain whip and cassette lock nut tool.

Arrived today. And this was using their FREE SHIPPING method.

One thing i noticed however - they shipped using DHL. I recall GREddie receiving an order recently from ChainReactionCycles which was also shipped using DHL and he got taxed, dutied and brokeraged up the yin yang. I was lucky not to have been charged. I received my Selle Italia saddle the other day but that came through using Royal Mail/Canada Post (no tax/duties)

So be careful guys - your mileage may vary. Maybe our lucky days are coming to an end.

If you have something with an effective top tube of 52-54cm, it should fit me. Standover height of 48 - 52cm is fine as well.
