Sometimes a belt ruins the sleek look IMO. So I dont always wear a belt. Really depends on the belt and outfit.

If my pants need holding up, then yes. If not, then there's no point. You might as well start carrying a purse around if you wear belts as an 'accessory'

I agree. Sometimes a belt ruins the overall look, other times it completes the look.

^

Belts are generally pointless. If your pants need to be held up by a belt, you are likely wearing a couple of sizes too large. I only wear a belt when I have a suit on, but even then I think I can pull off going beltless. For this reason I just have one brown and one black belt to match my shoes.

Most belts, like eyewear, fragrances and other accessories are really another way for people to wear a designer label that they cannot otherwise afford (ie mainline rtw apparel)

^ not really, i wear size 32 usually but cant fit comfortably into a 30 so i gotta wear a belt or i'll be dragging my jeans all day and it just looks bad if not held up

Belts are mandatory for any pair of trousers/jeans that have belt loops. Dress belts mainly go for dress trousers. A few dress belts are versatile enough for jeans, but there are designers that specifically make belts for jeans.

I have 2 pairs of John Lobb belts that I use regularly with dress trousers and go superbly with jeans. I also have a Helmut Lange belt, with a cool metal inlay at the one of the corners and Porsche Design belt that goes well with jeans.

YES. If it's got belt loops, it's got a belt.

Anybody who faux-tucks their tops deserves a punch in the throat.
