Would you ever shop in Parker Place?

Would like to get some feedback as to whether you guys will ever shop at Parker Place especially for mens clothings.

We are considering opening a retail store in Parker Place, but not sure if that would be the ideal location.

For people who are not sure where and what Parker Place is, it's a Chinese shopping center located on No.3 Road in Richmond.

Any feedback are appreciated!

No

Parking is too terrible there, and even if you find a parking spot, you risk getting hit and run there.

Nothing else is interesting in the mall.

Way too busy on weekends/lunch times just from high volumes.

3 road and hazelbridge(?) are both shitty roads to drive on, again from the high volume.

Probably better if you can land a location in the new Aberdeen mall, but of course easier said than done.

I'd say no as well.

I have been maybe twice to PP this year and only because my gf wanted to eat at their food court.

Instead of renting at PP, might as well save your money and get a smaller place at Metrotown or somewhere mainstream down the road.

liu13 12-30-2009 08:01 AM

any mall except brentwood and kingsway would be a good location

mpr 12-30-2009 08:34 AM

for sure. it's my source for car perfume, tinted light bulbs, hello kitty, and type r stickers.

ilvtofu 12-30-2009 08:40 AM

I say no, I was just there yesterday, actually found some interesting stuff though. But it's not the first place that comes to mind. But the stores there have potential just the mall doesn't have a very good image for that sort of thing. But they actually have a lot more exclusive clothes I find, better than aberdeen IMO

dasuperstar 12-30-2009 09:21 AM

Metro or Oakridge is the best place.

If you want a calm and not really busy but a good place to sell I'd say oakridge is the best. Why? J2, sneaker box even hugo boss & lacoste survives their and have a good sale and profit. Oakridge is slowly turning like PC kinda mall.

I love to go to malls in Richmond to meet girl's hahahaha^^ but not now since my gf watches me T_T

theBlackMarkers 12-30-2009 11:19 AM

All very good points!

Thanks guys!

TOS'd 12-30-2009 11:35 AM

Yea, like some already said. No for Parker and Yes for Oakridge (if they have an open spot).

LanEvoMR 12-30-2009 11:54 AM

No for parker place. Yes for Oakridge, richmond center, or even aberdeen. Parker place is just a shithole.

rien 12-30-2009 12:05 PM

No to parkerplace.

Like others have said... YES to oakridge and even aberdeen is a better choice than PP.

Gt-R R34 12-30-2009 12:29 PM

anyone considering rent?
Oakridge rent is on par with PC. There are reason why certain stores are in certain malls.

If you're considering oakridge, hell any mall would work.

dachinesedude 12-30-2009 01:17 PM

no for parker, they have a history of stores selling counterfeit stuff, so pretty bad rep i would say, i wouldnt buy anything other than food at parker

dasuperstar 12-30-2009 01:17 PM

Talk to oakridge administration. If you are one grand higher in a renting offer they sure gonna kick a cheaper store^^

Like what they did to sony and other store that close hahaha they are greedy in rent^^

snowball 12-30-2009 02:58 PM

I thought I saw an empty store with BlackMarkers on it in Parker Place, the only place I'd go to in PP is Christine Jewelers cause they have a website.

theBlackMarkers 12-30-2009 03:00 PM

We do have a unit in there but it was for in-store pickup only. We have moved out of the unit there and moved into a much bigger warehouse for our online store.

We are considering Parker Place because we already have a unit there, but as many of you have suggested, PP is not an ideal location.

From a non-Asians pov I think it's a bad idea. You'll turn off a lot customers who aren't Asians even though I have no isses with Parker Place because I've been there a few times to buy stuff. And I agree, Oakridge would be ideal.

dasuperstar 12-30-2009 04:41 PM

^^ oakridge is winning....

Ye better be so that J2 and boys co has a competition and now they need to watch out with their prices^^

Revscene members should have VIP discounts hahaha^^

jnesss 12-30-2009 06:12 PM

i walked by your store once.. there was a guy inside with a laptop and it didn't look very welcoming to customers.

i personally never shop online because i'll only buy something if i can try it on and it fits. that's just me though.

In an Asian POV I still find that Parker place is the wrong "image"(so to speak) for "The Black Markers". Oakridge would be a great place. I'm assuming rent's an issue as well.

I`m not sure if you`re ruling out Brentwood because you think it won`t generate any income but if that`s is the case I believe you might be surprised. I know somebody who worked at Le Cheateu for years at various different locations such as 2 different downtown ones and Brentwood and according to her the Brentwood location does very very well and although the mall seems low traffic and hurting (which it is in terms of types of stores) it apparently does well. Now this is just shiet I heard so I don`t personally know the numbers but just putting it out there.

dasuperstar 12-30-2009 06:44 PM

Oakridge is more in a centre place compare to brentwood between cities^^

its leased. theres nobody gettin kicked out because another dude offered 1g more.

dasuperstar 12-30-2009 07:43 PM

after your leased is done they do increase it that's why sony and other left oakridge

Still their intention is to make money. Why would you let sony go since a lot of people are buying from their and change it to a calendar store?

Gnomes 12-30-2009 07:48 PM

I used to go to that Mix&Match store in Parker Place. They had some nice honger clothing selection at a very affordable price. Unfortunately it's now all lady selection.

I think Blackmarkers will have better potentials located in a more western mall such as.... OAKRIDGE or even Richmond Center and lansdowne.
