i watched this a few days ago..
it's so sad =(

liu13 01-02-2010 01:27 PM

didn't "mess me up" but it was pretty good

welfare 01-02-2010 02:14 PM

yea. saw it a couple weeks ago. not too bad.
saddening how such incredibly brilliant creatures, the less aesthetically pleasing ones anyways, could be slaughtered for peanuts.
a real tribute to how foolish mankind can be.
private space was pretty comical though

I think what bothered me the most was.. When sharks get finned they just fall to the bottom of the ocean. Which is wrong in many ways.

When the dolphis were slaughtered... they were squirming and seriously in pain.

Fawk... sick sick world we live in.

liu13 01-02-2010 08:03 PM

dog meat is delicious

150k for a dolphin is pretty tempting, i'd love to be one of those guys

the only difference i see is the intelligence level of these creatures. although all the earths creatures are incredible beings to have survived as long as they have; much more than us from that aspect. death is as natural an occurrence as life. death sustains life
if you believe that to be sick, try and imagine the things that we don't see

Hondaracer 01-03-2010 08:06 PM

^ cutting off shark fins and throwing them back isnt a natural occurrence

illicitstylz 01-03-2010 09:27 PM

IUCN red list of threatened species only lists dolphins as " Least Concern"

Which is the 3rd bottom classification from a maximum of 9 classification schemes.

However, local populations and their importance to the local dynamics of the ecological community is different.

valid point. sharks don't really have predators. aside from humans, of course
one of the reasons their species has thrived for millions of years
all i'm saying is that our negative views towards death may skew our ideas of right and wrong in the natural world

Hondaracer 01-04-2010 06:05 PM

imo Asian cultures are by far the worst for this kind of thing, all the things in chinese medicines and aphrodisiacs can virtually only be obtained illegally or through totally fucked up "legal" methods like the shark fin thing

north american culture dont have black bears set up draining their gallbladders, etc. hell even poachers in N/A are almost always killing for meat, not just their paws, organs, etc

liu13 01-04-2010 06:08 PM

^ killing for meat is better than killing for other reasons? interesting

theres a difference when you use the whole body not just cut off one item and throwing the rest away.

digito-X 01-11-2010 01:10 AM

They did halt the slaughter of the dolphins during last season's hunt but it's hard to believe it won't continue this year.

homey_v 04-22-2010 11:35 PM

i know its been a while but i wanna bump this thread so everyone can see this

edit: heres a trailor if anyone wants to see it

hotjoint 04-23-2010 07:14 AM

sweet, i'll grab it off tpb when I get home :)

threezero 04-23-2010 09:48 AM

the part where they are slaughtering the dolphin and the dolphins are screaming and in obvious pain is really hard to take.

I've stop eating shark fin for a while now. Even when I go to chinese wedding banquets and i'm served fins i ask to see if its imitation shark fin if its not (99.9999999999% of the time) i just set it aside and not eat it. I don't care if the other judgmental Chinese people in attendance give me grief about how expensive it is and how its "immoral" to waste such expensive food. I have eaten my fair share of shark fin since i was a child and I refuse to contribute to this madness anymore. I'm glad that my immediate family finally see the light too and have stop consuming shark fins. I hope the rest of the chinese community wake the fuck up soon too.

Cool story eh

Mugen EvOlutioN 04-23-2010 10:36 AM
