Olympic Village

Is there any way to actually visit the Olympic Village during the Olympic Games if you were strictly a visitor without a pass or security clearance.

The news mentioned that there are multi checkpoints and the village is surrounded with 2 layers of wall (similar to the Berlin wall) and has motion sensor detection if someone were to try and climb over.

Yeah I'd imagine the Penthouses and the higher floors have some amazing unobstructed Vancouver City skyline views.

So is there an unofficial way to get in during the games?

Sucks pretty bad that we are paying for it but really wouldn't get a chance to walk or roam around it until after the games are done.

IIRC, they're gonna be selling them after the games (captain obvious), starting at about 2.2mil?

Without a doubt, the view would be amazing

yea no one is allowed in until after olympics of course, they want to keep it as prestine as possible. Best view is from the 12th floor of the higher tower of arthur erikson's twin twisting luxury condos. U basically get a 360 degree view as all your exterior walls are glass as well as two huge balconies on each end of the suite which has frigging TREES on it, talking about green building.
these suites are over 10mil i believe

not me. I know some the construction workers that built that place, they said it's the speediest and shoddiest job they've been on.

"looks nice, built shitty"

I wondered about that...it went up very quickly...I was actually really surprised they were able to pull it off.

Speaking of the village - can you still walk down the path that runs between the Village and False Creek? I just noticed that much of the False Creek and downtown areas had been barricaded off. I was going to walk by and take some pics because some friends who were interested in coming up during the Olympics wanted to see how things were shaping up here..

a main reason why it was built so quickly was because most of the buildings were Design build.

Things were being ordered, constructed while the building was being designed and change. The conceptual designs were already in place but the way to actually build it was being figured out while it was being built.
And architect's weren't usually as picky, they agreed with whatever was the cheapest and fastest route.

and no u can not walk a long the seawall unfortunately. Probably after the olympics. They want the athlete's to be kept in seclusion and focused during the 2 weeks or whatever.
