To early?! My friend has been going out with this girl for about half a year now and he wants to get her a ring for valentines. Both my other friend and I have told him hes an idiot and its to early but he wont listen to us. Leaving me no choice and post it on revscene to make my point. I advised him to get a necklace instead, if he keening on getting jewelery What do you guys/girls think? Leave comments and suggestions to gifts. Thanks ill update once i show him this thread with hopefully some good comments. (note: this is his first relationship, so hes new at everything) |
meh, let the kid feel like a man |
if buddy won't listen, what can you do? just let him know he's raising the bar for any gifts in the future. |
Maybe he's getting her a cheap ring? If he wants to give a girl that he loves a ring, then just let him be. Who knows, she may be the one. |
he is just setting himself up for future more expensive gifts. She will get a ring and than at her birthday she will expect something better and if she doesnt get it she will be dissapointed |
dude if its his 1st relationship they kid prob thinks this girl is the "one" yea he is setting himself up for a future of constantly trying to out do himself |
Let him learn on his own. Don't be a cockblock. Posted via RS Mobile |
before i went on my first date, i wanted to get a limo and she wasn't even hot |
it's not like he's borrowing money from you, let him do whatever the hell he wants |
Why do you care so much? Maybe it's just a promise ring or something that's not too pricey. |
maybe its gonna be an onion ring :D if he wants to get a ring....let him get one.... if he wants to step one foot in the coffin knowing its a coffin, what can you do? |

I care cause he asked, I was thinking it was a bad idea because getting a ring now means he probably will have to top that later on.. Price wise i think he was going to spend about 200+? (may sound like nothing to you guys but on a full-time student budget that is a hefty amount from the pocket) Anyways ill show him this thread and let him decide. Thanks |
does her name start with an S , and his name start with a P ? seems like something a guy i know would do ... and ur timeline matches their 'history' lol ... |
why does it matter? a bracelet or a necklace from tiffany cost roughly the same as a ring from there. you shouldn't even care until he decides to dump $1000+ on a small diamond ring. lastly, not all the girls out there require their boyfriends to spend more for subsequent gifts. don't judge the girl and stereotyping her already unless you have facts. |
^where in this thread was he judging/stereotyping the girl? i'm assuming your friend is young and obviously has zero experience with relationships since you said this is his first. i mean, you can say all you want but chances are he's gonna do it anyways because he feels ontop of the world and in "love." relationships is all about trial and error, let him do what he wants. in the long run he's gonna realize he was an idiot to dish out $200 right off the bat but again, trial and error. BUT if they end up together, then good for him! |
dunno why everybody is implying that because he's young, he can't really be in love i mean, come on. i remember reading this news article about 2 kids that fell in love when they were 4, and grew up dating each other and then got married, and when the husband died, the wife stayed a widow til she died how old you are doesn't determine whether or not you can really be in love. a 10 year old could be more in love with his 10 year old girlfriend than a 35 year old married couple let him do what he wants. assuming he's young, he isn't gonna go all out anyway. let him spend that $50 or whatever it may be, you don't run his life |

but don't make decisions for him unless you're ready to be his go-to guy what's the worst possible outcome anyways? his extravagant spendings will catch up to him and the girl will dump him. at least he will have learned something. |
get him a plastic ring from those stupid dollar stores, then he can give it to his gf. If she's expecting tiffany's, i'd tell ehr to fuck herself. |

i mean, yeah there are the odd couple that makes it as partners from kids to adults but often rare. my parents are one of the rare couples that knew each other since they were children and are still happily married to this day. but for most people, you'll have to go through many people just to find the right one. He may love this gf of his right now, but chances are she will always just be his first love and will probably end up as some girl he dated years ago when he grows up. |
Maybe it's a cock ring. |
This guy is going to end up fucking up the future men that the girl dates if they break up :lol |

everyone is different, he could be madly in love with this girl. It doesnt matter how long people have been together. It matters what they have done in the time they've been together. People can be together and do alot in 6 months or be together for 6 years and barely do anything. In the end, I know you're just looking out for him but you should be happy that he cares enough for this girl to want to give her a ring, be it a cheap or fancy one. |

but at the same time, they could be that one in ten it's hard to judge when we don't know the situation or the circumstances, and it's even harder when we don't know the people personally all i'm saying is, people shouldn't be going out on the limb and saying that they can't really be in love, simply based on the fact that he's young/that it's his first relationship |
