Those judges were pretty closed minded to new flavours and ingredients.

Like the one woman who said out of the 3 different guacamole's Michael Smith made she only liked the southwestern one because it tasted the most "traditional". Sorry bitch but things might taste different in other parts of the world.

michael smiths' presentation wasnt as elegant as flays. surprisingly he only lost 2 points to flay in presentation. he got murdered in the taste category. not saying smith would have won if it was another ingredient, but avocado definitely is an extremely familiar ingredient for flay.

Whatever, I never take these food critic too seriously. Most of them are very close minded and only award high marks to food that taste like what they expect to taste like. Anything innovative will either be a a very high mark or a very low mark.

first to all, i really think mike sucked. I might be bias, but I do expect Flay to be more experienced and 'cooler' on this dishes. Mike is sheltered in Canada, haven't had to really invent too much new dishes.
The dishes were very very hard to make, but normal dips just wouldn't cut it. I wanted to hit the girl judge cause she said she was more "used" to the southern taste.

Sheltered???? Smith has a show on the food network where he goes to different countries to try their cuisines and spices. It even shows him writing down stuff in his journal, along with pictures. I don't think Smith is sheltered at all.

Flay won...by a big margin, mainly on taste, give props to him.

Chef Abroad is easily my favorite show on the Food Network.
Possibly as much as Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives

and who can forget about License to Grill

i might have used the wrong word, but I just never see Michael making it on the same platform as other Chefs.

There are tons of chefs with years of training, tons of food experience, a few tv shows, traveled to restaurant all over US but they are in no way even considered a good chef worthy to be in a kitchen. One that came to mind: Rachael Ray, and the dude that does's Guy's triple Ds.

Rachel Ray and Guy Fieri are good cooks, but they are not chefs. Neither of them has been to chef school.

Yesss... I can't stand her voice and cheerfulness though. She would be fun for a rough ride.

Don't forget Nigella:

She's a cutie, but seems like she'd be a high maintenance chick. I remember watching iron chef when it was Giada and Flay vs Rachel Ray and Batali and Giada was practically throwing hissy fits because her food wasn't turning out.
