Question About Notice and Order

Was pulled over this weekend for having parking lights (incorrect colour). Not arguing this point ... after searching the internet I know now that this is illegal (my bad). However, the officer issued a Notice and Order Box 2 meaning I need a full vehicle inspection. He did not mention any other problems with my vehicle. Is this a normal practice? I do not drive a modified vehicle; just a boring ol' family car! I thought for something this minor they would just require me to fix the light within a specified number of days. Is the officer being reasonable? Should I go to the Richmond RCMP and speak to someone about this or just get the vehicle inspection done? Doesn't seem fair as this will cost at least $100 for the inspection. Not sure what to do. I've never received a parking ticket or speeding ticket or anything so I'm a bit surprised the office has the power to do this. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

A ticket could cost you $109. Shop around a bit for VI prices. Smaller garages charge less.
Not having seen your car, nor knowing what other violations may have been present, nobody here can comment. The Cop was within their rights to issue you a VT AND the VI, but chose the inspection for some reason. In my experience that was usually done to ensure the modification/ repair was corrected. Just giving a VT many times meant the driver just continued to drive that way.

You could contact the issuing Member and speak to them to see if they still have the N&O at the Police Station. It takes a bit of fuss to cancel one if it has already gone to MVB. .
