What happens if I signed the ticket, but the cop walks away with my copy?

So back in October, I got a ticket for speeding going south on Oak/Hwy99...

I was pulled over, and nothing out of the ordinary. Licence and insurance papers. I get issued a ticket and sign it.

But as the cop returned to his cruiser, he had my copy of the ticket. I don't know why, but I flagged him down and he gave me my ticket and then proceeded off again.

I'm just wondering what would happen if I didn't flag this guy down or wasn't handed my ticket after signing.

Was I better off not being naive and flagging him down?

more than likely, the cop would notice when he was back at the office processing tickets, and would have mailed you your copy (correct me real cops if im wrong)

They have to be served personally...can't be mailed. It would not be vaild as you had not been served a true copy ( the blue one).

So i was better off to let him drive off then.

Lesson learned.

Why? You saved him the effort of having to show up at your house to give you the ticket in person.

Me being better off =/= Him being better off

Doubt he would have showed up anyways, it was a SCBC cop...
