its hit or miss on the cvts...only good thing is the warranty on them has been extended to 10yrs or 200,000kms on them.

but other things can go wrong...wheel bearings, axle seals, transfer case and rear diff noise...and be weary of an oil consumpsion problem...

the cvt's should be okay, as long as you change it more often than they state. i've noticed that's helped prolong the life of the trannies

also the engine does tend to burn oil, so be mindful of that.

other than that i'd like to have one in the family, except it's a bit too small.

They're alright.
Really smooth car overall, decent power, stock 18", consumption isn't too bad, extremely comfortable even with 5 ppl and come pretty loaded for the money. Perhaps they even look good modded?
Certain repairs can get expensive, and do come up more often than they probably should. Get a warranty or put aside a couple grand should an expensive part decide to give out (ie cvt, transfer case, exhaust manifold).
We've had two of them in my family since early 2003. One has average mileage while the other is pushing 170k, serviced regularly though. Aside from typical first year production issues there have been more problems than we've had with other various cars over the years.
Would we do it again? Probably, it was a pretty rad car for 2003 and even now looks quite modern.

the murano's are great cars though dont get me wrong...and with the cvt warranty extended for 10yrs/200000km your covered...

they drive really nice, cvt tranny is nice, rides nice, etc.

the cvt fluid is like $30/litre or something and i think it takes like 10l...
