| Greyhound from BC to Northern California? Please help
Hey everyone,
Family emergence came up and I need to be out in the San Jose- Frisco - Oakland area this weekend.
Airplane tickets are going for $500 round-trip. Usually I go this route..
and I still most likely will end up flying..
but how much cheaper is it going by bus? By car it's a 15 hour drive, so it can't be too bad. I just want to know if it's worth it.
Stupid website isn't letting me see any shcedules either.
If anyone can point me towards an online schedule or tell me how much round trip tickets are going for, that would be golden! Thanks in advance.
Prefer to leave from Coquitlam if possible.

greyhound is going to be cheaper, but consider if you can sit on a bus for ~20? hours one way.

take the airplane instead...
seriously, you'll save so much time and not having to sit on a bus for a whole day.

The bus isn't worth it. Nor is the AMTRAK. I speak from experience. If it is a family emergency, book a flight and get yourself down there ASAP. Morally speaking, you should NEVER put a price on a family member. (I'm not saying that you are.)
As an alternative and since our Dollar is strong, try looking at flights on Virgin America. Take a look at their flights from Seattle SeaTAC Airport down to San Francisco International. Drive down to Seattle, park at the hotels for $10/$12 a day, hop onto a flight. Land into San Fran, rent a car then drive up to Oakland/San Jose. Good luck!

Depending on your family emergency, some air companies offer discounted rates for bereavement / family emergencies.
They might require some proof (ie copy of death certificate)
