Out of curiosity - does anyone know of any decent tennis instructors in the Vancouver (preferably East Van or Burnaby) area? I want to start learning the sport so was looking into some beginner/novice type instruction. Any recommendations or is the best bet to just hit up the local community centre and see what they offer?

^Maybe try the Burnaby Tennis Facility on Kensington near 8 rinks and Bill Copeland Ice rink (?). They seem to offer lesson's/coaching.

Staying on the topic of tennis instructors, I am looking for some tennis coaching in Richmond, preferably from the Steveston Community Centre Tennis shack. Any recommendations or advice? Since I will most likely start in the fall, Steveston is the closest public indoor facility without membership fees. TIA.

Little bit of Background: I would say I am a 3.5, OHBH, mostly baseline player. Only played recreational tennis.

Bump for this

Any updates or recommendations for instruction in Vancouver? I want to learn the sport, and I want to learn the sport with a good foundation of fundamentals, rather than developing bad habits that I'll have to unlearn later.

Given that I've little other than pick up a racquet when I was a kid, are there suggestions for group vs individual coaching?

Thanks!

Anyone play tennis in central park or coquitlam area regularly?,, Looking for social drop in, or pick up doubles game.

Looking to play with more experienced /skilled players, and not beginner/learners.

For stringing, try this guy out:

http://www.allcourtstringing.com/

$10 labour, and he has all sorts of different string.

He's a USRSA Certified Master Racquet Technician and he's operating a home-based business... which means he's a lot more flexible than going to stores. I just got a couple racquets strung and picked it up last night at 9pm.

One day turnaround, and sometimes he can even string it while you wait.

He's located near Broadway and Nanaimo.

Tell him Stan sent you!

Whipped up some solid 1st serves... but, as a result, my shoulder always bugs me. I am currently running a Flat/American Twist first serve. Anyone know why my shoulder is beginning to bother me?
