New clutch question

I recently replaced my clutch. My new clutch is very soft. When I step on it, its slides down easily. I know the break in period is around 400 miles but I want to know if my clutch will stiffen/harden up after the break in period because my old clutch was that way. I prefer it to be a little harder/stiffer because I'm used to letting the clutch in and out quickly but I find that with this new one I have to let it in and out slowly when shifting. I feel like a newb learning to drive stick again because the engage point is totally different. I've stalled a few times already

Break it in with some city driving. After a couple tanks of gas the feeling should return to stock.

Yup, it will be back to normal, or at least you'll get used to it soon enough!

I don't know why but my driving was smoother when it was really soft
perhaps it was me being more cautious

Sounds to me like you've got air in your clutch lines. Bleed it properly and you'll be all good.

Did you replace the disk or the pressure plate tooÉ
If you only replaced the disk, your pressure plate might be the problem.

if you replaced your clutch with an oem exedy then you probably replaced the pressure plate as well

the reason why it's softer is cause of the new pressure plate, in time it'll stiffen up, but chances are it won't be as stiff as your old clutch.

I got a brand new clutch kit and machined the existing flywheel.

This is the kit.

2nd question is, is the clutch system hydrolic or cable?

if its hydrolic, make sure u bleed the lines right, air bubbles can cause softness.

which exedy did you get? oem replacement or stage1? the oem replacement will come with a pretty soft pressure plate.

I bought the KTY14 clutch kit, its oem replacement. I believe mine is hydrolic. Isnt cable for older cars? I bought it and got it installed at garage 5. I was reading up on air and bleeding the clutch but I'm pretty sure the guys at garage 5 woulda done all that for me correct?

Read my previous post, I just downloaded the FSM to verify it was hydraulic BEFORE I posted.

OP: Go bleed your lines then come back. There's no telling what the guys at Garage 5 did. Sometimes they don't bleed it if its a simple clutch change.

If you're unhappy with the friction point, you can always adjust you're pedal/master.
