touching movie scenes

what are some movie scenes that you remember as very moving or powerful?

i'll never forget this scene, so much emotion packed into a 5 minute sequence. gets me everytime.

Culture_Vulture 04-20-2010 01:32 PM

Not from a movie, but this one gets me all the time

unit 04-20-2010 01:45 PM

^i came in here to post that

raygunpk 04-20-2010 01:52 PM

Speaking of moving TV scenes....Futurama surprisingly has a bunch.

For me in movies...what did it for me was the ending of Marley and Me. I think its undoubtedly popular that someone has to die for a moment to be so touching. Sure Marley was only a dog...but i guess why it did the job above and beyond other movies i can recall.

this was the first movie i watched with my gf that made her cry

the up one. hell i must admit tears came when i was watching it for the 1st time at the theatre

End of Apollo 13, when everyone's waiting to see if they make it back alive... even knowing in advance how it ends, it's still incredibly packed with tension and emotion. (Funny thing, my wife was really on the edge of her seat the first time we watched it - she actually didn't know if they were going to make it!)

Lotta tear-jerker scenes in The Blind Side, too.

tacobell 04-20-2010 07:04 PM

I can't find the exact scene, but basically the ending where Hachiko walks back to the train station one last time before he passes.

tear jerker for sure

tacobell 04-20-2010 07:10 PM

This is good too, but i couldn't find the part where it includes Ram talking to Marisa Tomei before he heads out into the ring, but anyway, here it is

CP.AR 04-20-2010 07:28 PM

this is a classic

and touching not in a sad, tear-inducing sense. I always found that the training scenes in Rocky are quite amazing in giving you a good, inspirational feeling

Soundy 04-20-2010 07:39 PM

The last episode of TNG, where Picard dies... that was cool.

*ducking and running*

Okay, okay... took my kid and niece to the first Pokemon movie when it came out. The scene near the end, where Ash is dead and Pikachu is losing his mind trying to zap Ash back to life... that was a tearjerker. For real.

Futurama has quite a few, like Fry's dog, Leela's parents, Fry's duplicate, etc...

Although not a scene, the entire movie, Grave of Fireflies, is the one that I cannot watch without opening the flood gates. Fuck... just thinking about it is making me tear up.

Tegra_Devil 05-14-2010 03:44 PM

only movie to ever make me cry

Scrubs also has a lot of great ones. It was like just one of the things they did really well that made me love the show. Love the way they can mix comedy and drama so well.

and the way they finished off scrubs, made season 9 look like an insult.
