No one was home when my order came, and I didn't feel like waiting so I just went to the Fed Ex facility by the airport and picked up my order.

Wow, their prices are extremely cheap. Much cheaper than retail. When you bought your Oliver Peoples Stummers, did it come in a hardcase and the frames made in Japan? With those prices, I feel iffy on whether these are real or not.

nope, from that otticannet ebay store i posted on the previous page, here's how they came:

the Gucci print is on the inside of the hard box as well

awsome experiance personally, buddy answered all my questions i had regarding the glasses within an hour of emailing him, he shipped them the day i ordered and emailed me confirming model style, and they arrived within 4 days from italy

shitty was i had to pay $35 in duty which made the glasses come to just over $200, but thats still much cheaper than retail here i'm sure

It came with the hard case, cleaning cloth, certificate of authentication and I think the box, I don't quite remember. The frames are indeed made in Japan.

Holy shit. I guess I may have to stop buying locally.

That being said, I paid a bit under $400 for a pair of Paul Smith sunglasses (Oliver Peoples - whatever you want to cal them) last summer, taxes in. I even had to bargain with them so they would come out to be cheaper than me buying from Oliver Peoples in California. FUUUUUU!!!!!!!!! (Local store shall remain anonymous.)

Edit:

Actually, did you end up paying taxes (bot GST and PST) with your order?
Found that some of their sunglasses and eyeglasses end up being the same when purchased locally.

Edit 2: Seems like there is no sales tax. I would assume you pay that when you get raped by Fedex, no?

For FedEx, use the Fedex International Priority method if you don't want to pay a brokerage fee. You may pay a bit more for Priority than Ground. But it comes out cheaper in the end since Fedex will charge you extra for the brokerage fee if you choose the Ground Method.

I don't remember exactly since its been a while, but I'm pretty sure I didn't have to pay to much more. I think maybe $30-$40 on top of the original cost.

Okay. I take back what I had said. I looked through my receipts and it turns out the $400 I paid were for my prescription lenses and frames. My sunglasses were around the $300 mark, which works out to be about the same even ordering from this website.

IMO... Never, ever buy sunglasses locally unless they're under $200 retail price (or you're filthy rich and don't care).

I have never paid tax on a product I purchased on Ebay (except for the rare occasion when the seller is from Canada, and I had to pay 5% GST).

The trick is to ONLY order from Ebay sellers that ship via USPS Priority Mail International. USPS, as far as I know, does not charge a brokerage fee.

I purchased from these exact sunglasses from this exact seller: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=280513005105

They arrived via USPS, and I paid absolutely no duties, taxes, or brokerage fees. The mailman simply handed me the package, I signed for it, and that was that. After shipping fees and currency conversion, they cost exactly $202. (In Sunglass Hut, locally, the same glasses were $421 after tax, so I saved $219 by buying online).

FYI, buying off Ebay is safe 99% of the time if you purchase from reputable sellers with excellent feedback ratings. I prefer 10,000+ transactions with a 98%+ feedback rating. There's absolutely no way the merchandise is fake if they meet that criteria, and even if it is you'll be able to tell immediately upon opening the box. Advertising fake goods as authentic and ripping people off is a surefire way to get banned from Ebay.

Almost definitely cheaper in Vegas, even after the $ conversion. But they'll still cost much more than online.
