Strange chest pain problem

This is actually a reoccuring thing that happens every once in a while.
Like maybe once every two months or so...

And it just happens out of nowhere. I just woke up this morning and it happened.
It usually only lasts for a day though. But it's discomforting throughout the entire day.

I'll try my best to describe what is happening.

The middle of my chest has sharp pains.
It's located about 2 inches above the level of my nipple height.
So upper area of the chest. It feels internal... maybe the bone.

The pain is on and off, depending on the position I'm in.
If I'm doing a sit up, it hurts while I'm half way up.
If I twist my body to either side, the pain is there.
If I push against my chest, I feel discomfort (but not pain).

Now if I flex my back backwards, it feels fine.
Acutally in the past, a few years ago, I used to flex my back backwards
(and flare out my chest basically) whenever this occured. And if I flex backward
enough, I would hear something pop/snap in my chest. Like the sound when you
"crack" your fingers. The the pain would be completely gone.

I believe this might be something similar. It is the exact same pain. Except
when I flex back now, it doesn't work anymore. no more "popping" sound.
But this makes me believe this has something to do with the bone... but not
even sure which bone it could possible be.

I'm not sure was it just bad sleeping position, because when this does occur,
it happens in the morning and lasts throughout the day. It usually goes away
by the time I wake up the next day.

I have seen the doctor about this in the past, but I didn't get much advice.
Most likely because the doctor didn't know what was going on based on my
info, and he seemed like he was in too much of a rush. I did take my time
typing this post though, so perhaps, maybe someone else have experienced
this and can share some thoughts?

btw, I don't workout regularly, so this doesn't have anything to do with me
overworking my chest muscles or something.

if you're concerned it has to do with your heart, go to the hospital and get an ECG on the day that it hurts.

I have a feeling that the pain is stemming from your sternum (i.e. the flat bone located in the middle of your upper chest or breastbone, between your pectorals) or from the muscles surrounding your sternum. Have you recently gained weight around your upper body area? This can be due to increased weight or pressure around this area causing a weakness in your sternum or muscle strain around your sternum. I bet that when you lay in certain positions that require you to apply an awkward amount of weight onto your sternum for long periods of time (i.e. laying on your side or sitting in a bucket seat for long durations and concaving your shoulders and chest), you start to have acute sharp pains in your sternum and chest. I also would bet that when inverting the concave position, such as sticking out your sternum or chest, relieves the pain temporarily and when you immediately return to the concave position, the acute sharp pain returns. After 10-15 minutes or so of baring the pain and trying to return to your normal position, the pain goes away, am I correct? If my suggestions and observations are correct and bizarrely descriptive and accurate of your symptoms, you may have Acute Sternum Pains. If so, I'd suggest you to return to your Doctor for re-examination and possibly receive healthy fitness programs and stretch positions that may relieve or eliminate the pains or further examination for chronic illnesses. I hope that helps and I also hope you feel better soon.

I think this may be it... I don't work out though, so I didn't increase any
upper body weight suddenly. I'm not sure why it happens, might be bad
sleeping posture? I don't have the best posture, I slouch a lot.

Only problem is in the past, everytime I set a meeting with the doctor, the
pains gone before I get to see him. (Since my appointment has to be set a day or two later).

Well, it doesn't have to be a gain in muscle mass, it could simply be a gain in weight of any type (i.e. fat and muscle). If there has been no weight gain, which could possibly be the cause of your sternum pains, then perhaps a poor posture when sleeping or a poor posture, in general, may be the culprit. Do you find that when you're in an awkward position for a relatively long duration of time (even when conscious), the pain acts up when you return to your "normal" position? I suspect that sternum pains can erupt from a multitude of reasons, so I suggest you to contact your doctor and even though you can replicate the pain, you can at least describe it to him thoroughly and possibly receive some healthy advice. Good luck!

I had a tightness under my breast plate a couple weeks ago. Go to the doc and tell them you're having chest pains, they'll give you a BC Biomedical Requisition form to get an EKG and blood tests done. That what I just had. Still have to go in to get the results.

Maybe it's a possibility that you have angina?
(No, not vagina for you dirty minded people)

Suspected angina
Hospital admission for people with the following symptoms, as they may have unstable angina: Pain at rest (which may occur at night), pain on minimal exertion, angina that seems to be progressing rapidly despite increasing medical treatment. Refer urgently all people with suspected angina to a chest pain evaluation service, for confirmation of the diagnosis and assessment of the severity of coronary heart disease.

Too much fapping or fapping too hard, LOL.

Sounds like it's not the heart. So that's a good thing.

What a coincidence. Fapping classes start in October. Pre-registration starts next week. Our guest speaker at our annual open house is none other than the dude from Japan who holds the worlds record for longest fapping.
