so when i do firmware upgrades, i like to retain my baseband version and use things like sn0wbreeze or pwnagetool. I also like to set the iphone up as a new device and not restore from backup, because problems might carry over, or new problems may arise with the new firmware. it's also a gd opportunity to weed out apps that you like to hoard but never use. before performing the upgrade, update all your apps to the latest version in the appstore or apptrackr.
when i setup the new device, i lost a lot of my game data/saves. i'm sure it will make you not want to play that particular game anymore. what you can do is use itools to extract your iphone backup created before the firmware upgrade and copy the entire 'applications' folder. in that folder under each individual app will be two folders named documents and library.
after you install your new jailbroken firmware, install installous+appsync thru cydia and reinstall all your old apps, free or cracked, back onto the phone. from here on, you can use ifunbox to browse and expand each app you just installed. you will see the same 'documents' and 'library' folder. this is where you will copy the same folders over from the backup you extracted earlier.
hope that helps some of you, it should work with a lot of apps, not all. worked on my jetpack joyride.

Ommmg so I've only had my iPhone 4 for just a little over a year now and recently the home button started not working properly .__. like I'd have to double press it or even press really hard for it to work. Now are there any fixes out there for this or should I just take it in somewhere to get repaired??

Best take it to the apple store.

I have done a fresh restore on my iPhone and it still does the same thing =/
I even heard on pressing it down and blowing on the home button to release some of the dirt that collected in there.. to no avail still has the problem.

It's a common problem and I just learn to live with it. You can try to recalibrate your home button and see if that works. Quote:
Step 1: Navigate to, and launch one of the stock applications on your iPhone. If you don’t already know, the stock apps are things like weather, YouTube, stocks, settings etc (any that come as part of iOS).
Step 2: When the app is launched, press and hold the Power button located at the top of the device until the ‘Slide to power off’ appears.
Step 3: Press and hold the iPhone home button. Keep the button depressed until the Slide to power off slider disappears and the application quits back to Springboard.

I got a Japanese Iphone 4 from my friend and been running my Gevey with Rogers. Works ok.
My question is i have version 4.3.5 (8L1), wonder if i can should update to 5.1.1? I heard the battery will last longer if i have 5.1.1
Also, what if i want to jailbreak my phone?

i am completely noob on iphone, but upgrading to 5.1.1 and i can still jailbreak my phone right?
And also since this is a Japanese phone, if i want to unlock it using a different method (not Gevey sim), i probably have to pay someone to do it for me right?

anyone know where you can buy oem ip4 back covers?
all i could find was sw-box.com but i don't think they are oem. a fake that looks identical to oem will also do!

I just updated my iOS to 5.1.1 Jailbroken and everything. However, after jailbreaking all my apps went missing. I tried restoring my back up, still no apps. Any reason why this happens?

Everything looks all right but there is no internet when trying to connect to the internet
