I'v been to a chiropractor for a few years. It has always helped me. Sometimes I can barely turn my neck and after a session or 2, it goes back to normal within a day or 2 depending on how bad it is.

apparently the doc said i use my computer for too long/much

at first it started with right shoulder, than neck, than back

those who sits in front of computer all day, the doc recommend getting up every 30-45 minutes, and walk around...do some stretches

my neck and back has been recovered...seems the upper shoulder pain is quite stubborn, started swimming tho..

physio takes a longgggggggggg time doesnt it

i think my mom went to see a physio before, you probably have to seek 10-15 times treatment in order to see improvement.

just go there to get the excercises that they give you then dont go back lol

maybe you might want to ask a personal trainer for some excerises/stretches to strengthen the muscles or post in workout thread

heres the deal people.. as with all professionals, there are good and bad ones.

imo, a chiropractor should not want to see any individual for extended periods. ie. once a month for the rest of your life.

if the chiropractor is good, honest, accountable etc, they will be able to admit to you, after a a few sessions (and you are not better), that you should seek some help from another healthcare practioner.

the ONLy time i see a chiro is if ive been hit or took a shock to my body from sports or working out. what chiros mainly do is fix misalignments (which can be caused by anything... acute trauma, genetics, or chronic injuries/imbalances). with that said, if you, as a patient, are leading a lifestyle that prevents yourself from getting better (not doing your strengthening exercises and stretches), that is your own fault. chiropractors are not miracle workers... although i have personally heard some amazing stories, i think most people go in hoping for a miracle quick fix... you won't get that anywhere.

and the reason why you feel good for the first day or 2, then slowly get that nagging back pain again should be a sign that you should be doing something about it. chiros can diagnose imbalances of the human body, and that is what is causing the pain/issue with your body. do the stretches, or whatever they prescribe, even go as far as seeing a reputable physio for further evaluation.

well said

i was gonna continue to go back after my 6th treatment i realize i am not gonna not going to get any better. Chiropractor basically does an alignment job like you do on a car. If its your tendon/muscle thats injured, they really cant do much

look into ART (ACtive release therapy). the most painful 5 minutes of your life, but your ROm and strength will increase substantially after the first session.. Some chiropractors are trained and most sports medicine clinics too

Any recommended chiropractor (or ones to avoid) in non-downtown vancouver?

I think I have dislocated ribs from hard coughing and predisposing rib injury. I can physically see uneven-ness when I lift my shirts.

I deal with a lot of health care professionals on a regular basis... from orthopedic surgeons, to family physicians to physiatrists (physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists), and not a single one that I've ever dealt with has spoken out against chiropractic care, and many have recommended it as a treatment for injured patients.

Also, my sister is a chiropractor, and has helped me.

I'd recommend it, but like with any other profession, there's good ones and there's bad ones.
