Ambient fan looking for recommendations

I listen to ambient on internet radio a lot but never pay attention to artists, etc. I'm thinking of looking some up now, any suggestions?

Brian Eno (ex of Roxy Music) is pretty much THE godfather of ambient music. Some of Mike Oldfield's stuff could classify too. Also check out Jean-Michel Jarre and Philip Glass for some slightly more eccentric, electronic stuff.

There are some cool ambient/groove channels on www.soma.fm and they display the last several songs and artists on the site, so you can keep track of who you're hearing.

There are many different genres that can be ambient. Are you looking for trip-hop, post-rock, electronic, all three, etc.? What kinds of stuff do you already listen to?

I like trip-hop, something with a little bit of a beat. I also like some slower almost nature-like ambient for snowboarding.

Soundy - I listen to Soma quite a bit, great station, and thanks for the recommendations.
