I've seen an Accord in Williams Lake with 850,000km, it belonged to someone who worked a couple days a week on the coast and the rest of the week up there.

Now.. if they could just figure out their transmissions..

Nothing wrong with Honda standard transmissions - among the smoothest gearboxes in the business.

I like Hondas, but there is a known BMW E30 that has a million miles on its original engine. Like most things, cars were built to last in the 70s and 80s.

I'm not sure if they still do, but I know for a few years starting in 1997, Honda sub-contracted their transmissions to GM. Thats when the transmissions really started going down hill, but prior to that they were great!

EDIT: I was passed the info on GM manufacturing Honda Transmissions from another member, but upon research I haven't been able to back up their claims.

My 95 teg's got 245k on it, not all that much.

However, My first car, a 87 volvo 740 wagon had 475,000 on original motor and trans before i scrapped her, motor was a bit tired, trans didn't like reverse hot, and the body rusted out. I miss that car for camping!

I guess that explains the horrible tiptronics that came out in 97.

In Edmonton, there is a 1986 civic hatch, with 1.5 million KM on original motor and trans

He actually rolls around in the little brown hatch with big stickers on the doors saying "1500000"

Pffft! My Ford Bronco has 390xxxkm's on the original motor and headgaskets no synthetic fluids either.
It still runs smooth as new and uses no oil. Most any vehicle that hasn't been abused and maintained well will get 300+ km's.
