Lamborghini - cost of ownership

I have an acquaintance who just bought a used Gallardo, and I'm just wondering what you guys think it would cost to run/maintain one of these? I think its an 05, I know how much these things cost to buy, just wondering how much it would cost to actually keep it running.

Guys on the Lambo board are saying $1400/oil change and $8k/clutch job at the dealer. The reality is most of them are spending around $500/oil change and $3-4k/clutch job.

Average driving, cost/mile = just over $1 for maintenance.

edit - US prices

I always wonder how much maintenance would cost on a gallardo...on 6sp online, you can get an 04-05 Gallardo for $80-90K USD. Get a new clutch and get a proper service done and you are in the Lambo club for less than $100K....not bad....$100K can get you a new Carrera S or a 07 turbo.......if I were young....hard not to want a Lambo!

I think if you can afford a lambo (used around 100K), maint. isn't much of an issue.

My dad's friend had a Gallardo as his DD before he had some body condition made driving difficult for him. He spent about $12k a year to keep up and he really DROVE that car. Last time I saw that car, it got about 50k Miles on it, and it's a 3~4 years old car.

This is in California. I'm sure in BC should be fairly close. About 1K a month should be about right if you drive it regularly

^ yep, I was planning on a getting an E92 M3....but for similar cost I picked up an really low KMs 996 GT3. For me, the GT3 is the ultimate toy car for the following reasons;

1) relatively low cost of entry - 996 GT3s have dropped in value allot since the intro of the 997.2 GT3 ($160K)
2) exclusivity - rarer to see a GT3 than it is a ferrari 360 or gallardo
3) performance/feel - really second to none. Best bang for your buck. In the same league performance wise as an older F430 or lambo
4) reliability - car is arguably more reliable than a Honda. Nothing goes wrong on the car because it is over built for the track....change the fluids, pads, rotors and tires....that's it
5) lack of modding required - this is the first car that really doesn't require mods...factory coilovers, oem roll cage, oem Recaro leather racing seats. I have spent less than $1K on mods.

^ in a few yrs, I will trade in my e60 for an E92 or a F10....but for my toy car....I wouldn't go back to a M3...great and fun car as a DD, but as an all out performance car.....it needs allot of work.

I still love checking out nice E46 M3s though....

ya drove my friends E46 m3 the other day

i still love it to death till this day, despite the design has almost been a decade ago. its Still feels so rawwww, and loves to rev. Lots of fun

needs a lot of work as in, still requires a lot of modification from stock form in order to be a perfect cornering machine?

^E46 M3s will go down in price for the next 5yrs....but it will eventually go up in value like the E30s....there is something magical about how rawww the M3 powertrain is......unlike the E92, the E46 M3 bodystyle will become a classic.....
