son of a bitch.....

Grouse Grind:

1. Make sign that say's NO Hiking Down
2. Increase lift prices....
3. Profit. $$$

:troll:

[And Didn't realize the grind was already opened...on the 12th]

I need a para glider.

Conan O'Brien Sex Video 06-22-2010 04:52 AM

i got an annual pass when i did the grind 3 or 4 times a day. was only planning to make sporadic trips this year but not anymore. bye bye grind.

SizzleChest 06-22-2010 07:17 AM

i can't find anything online to confirm this. do you have a link? does the $10 include a down pass on the gondola?

EDIT: thought the $10 charge was to actually climb the grind. gondola cost increasing from $5 to $10. sucks, but i'm an out-of-towner and don't get to do the grind much more than 2-3 times a year anyway. i'll pay it.

hamsup 06-22-2010 07:32 AM

I heard rumours about this too but was unable to find an online source to back it up....

you could always hike up the GG and take the BCMC down...

As the price for a single download ticket becomes $10 effective June 28, 2010, we encourage all locals to take advantage of the most economic fitness, recreation, and entertainment pass in the city. At $99 for 365 days of unlimited Skyride access, recreation activities, and more, no gym membership can compare.

They've always charged for a ride down, but doubling it pretty high. The site says they doubled it to keep noobs away lol.

Conan O'Brien Sex Video 06-22-2010 09:21 AM

that's just a BS reason.

lol... well i did that on the weekends. got the annual pass that year and had to get my monies worth =P but seriously though it was awesome cuz after a month, i realized was 10+ pounds lighter and had pretty big calf muscles.

StealthFighter 06-22-2010 11:51 AM

i did it about 10 times last year. i'm gonna cut down this year.

Alatar 06-22-2010 01:42 PM

The Grind... haha! I'll stick to my overnight hikes. Sure it sucks hiking with 40+lbs on your back, but it's worth it when you see the views.

maxxxboost 06-23-2010 01:35 PM

Watched this on the news earlier!
Sucks!!!!
But what can you do. I'll prob do it once or twice this year and go elsewhere. I honestly don't mind the walk down.

SilverBlitz 07-05-2010 09:30 PM

apparently the gravel lot is paid parking now? anyone know for sure?

tacobell 07-05-2010 09:36 PM

if they gonna charge for parking too, i'm switching to squamish chief. yes, it's an easier hike, but you get to hike down too

johny 07-05-2010 09:37 PM

it was pay durring the olypics. it's free again now. but it gets full!

I did it today for the first time this year. paid the $10. I'll problbay get a year pass for $100. if I buy it within a week I get my $10 back.

Tegra_Devil 07-06-2010 08:30 AM

10 bucks for tram down, free if you want to risk walking down. There was also a weird line for 8 bucks cash and free water.

oh hasnt it been $10 to tram down forever?

the past few years you had to pay to tram down anyways...

Conan O'Brien Sex Video 07-06-2010 09:41 AM

It's been $5 to take the tram down for the past years.

Tegra_Devil 07-06-2010 09:42 AM

oh okay, well thats still not horrible...10 bucks isnt bad

walking down gg is not good for the knees, considering how steep it is instead of it being gradual.

Richmond69er 07-07-2010 10:40 AM

An increase of 100% is absurd. They are trying to justify it by maintenance costs over the years when really the GG has been a HUGE cash cow for the mountain. tourists, and locals head up the trail, spend x amount of money in the lodge buying drinks, snacks, food, and souvenirs. THEN pay another 5$ to take the tram down. now anyone going up the GG is going to have to deal with hoards of people coming down it. good job.
