Cineplex movie Passes...

Hi there, Im from Vancouver and movies here at cineplex theatres cost $12 each, i recently just bought 10 free passes for $7 each for the first time...I noticed in the past when I buy tickets especially for new movies it will have something beside the title that says (no passes)....is it referring to the free passes that I just bought?...that would suck!

Your tickets aren't considered passes. The white tickets that come from the theatres usually given to guests as compensation, are the "passes"

Ya, they'll work fine. I believe you can even use them for IMAX but you pay the difference between regular ticket price and Imax price.

I think it's an extra $3

IMAX $5 extra
Real3d $3 extra

twitchyzero 06-28-2010 11:09 PM

where are you getting 'em for $7?

Gumby 06-29-2010 10:59 AM

Yeah I often come across friends selling tickets for $8 each - where did you get them for $7?

TRDood 06-29-2010 11:02 AM

I think the lowest price is at $7.95 starting December 2009.

Before that, lowest I have bought was $6.95.

quasi 06-29-2010 11:40 AM

I'm pretty sure I've been paying $7. I get them through a friend of my wife, someone at BC Hydro.

twitchyzero 06-29-2010 03:58 PM

last time i bought them they were like 8.50..maybe even 9

quasi 06-29-2010 05:04 PM

The more the organizer buys the cheaper they are.

Anything that you paid some sort of dollar value for or traded for a value in some sort of way (Air Miles) are considered 'VOUCHERS.' They will work for ANY movie regardless (with the exception of special events). Of course...as mentioned the special shows will be surcharged.

'PASSES' are complimentary tickets that are provided by theatre management, movie distributors, etc. However MOST passes still work....so make sure you bring them and try them out. The most common passes are the ones managers usually give to compensate a bad experience, etc. So, those will work for any movie, and now, the theatre is taking them towards the purchase of Imax and 3d shows.

On a sidenote...thought I would share because i work for Cineplex part time. There may be a movement to change the structure of the 3d movies. To possibly charge 5 bucks for glasses, and keep the price of the movie at 11.99 (general admission).

I find this a lot better...because fact of the matter is that there is NO LABOUR to reset digital movies (as opposed to the film reel movies), Digital movies don't deteriorate over time (as opposed to film reel movies)...and it will provide less waste, regardless if they have recycling bins for the glasses.

I am an employee of the theatre...and i think its ridiculous to pay more for something that is potentially has a lesser cost of operation. Only why i said 'potentially' is because of the waste of when people just throw their 3d glasses away.

ShadowBun 06-29-2010 06:55 PM

so can someone hook us up with $7 tickets?

gearshifter 06-29-2010 06:58 PM

Yup, this is true. And it also depends on your friend and/or source, if they want to make some extra cash, they would usually jack up the price and say they cost that much to begin with.

Face it, management/owners are greedy! They'll charge extra whenever/wherever they can. :)

Since when? If my memory serves me right the new Tuesday promo is really just the movie + a voucher for popcorn and drink? I believe Tinsel Town has cheap tuesdays but that's about it.

simsimi1004 07-01-2010 09:08 AM

^^ u can choose not the get the popcorn and drink, then the ticket is only 6bux. 8bux for 3d. confirmed for several silvercitys.
i also noticed that on the self serve kiosk, to see the 6$ ticket u have to scroll down.. its the last option from the list.

moomooCow 07-01-2010 02:00 PM

Hi! sorry for the late reply guys but thanks for your comments!....I bought 10 tickets off craigslist, just a lucky search I guess?...their expiration date is end of this year though while most that are 8-9$ are good for atleast 2-3 years, thats probably why they were cheaper. but since i got them ive already used up 4 tickets in 2 weeks haha (watching with gf) so I think watching another 3 movies before Dec shouldnt be a problem!
