FYI:DO NOT FLY ALLEGIANT AIR

I made the mistake of booking with allegiant air and flying out with them to Las Vegas this past monday. These opinions are strictly mine and do not reflect what others might have encountered in the past.

I had a flight on Jun 28th flying out to las vegas at 12:55pm. While getting ready for take off(just as the plane was lining up with the run way) some steering mechanism broke. We were hardparked perpendicular to an active runway for 20+ mins, before being towed back to the terminal. They later told us that the plane will be delayed til 7pm as they will get a new plane here from Vegas. Shit happens so we took off...

Later on when we come back they then tell us that our plane will now be at 10pm as they had to wait for the last flight to get in, so we can use that plane. While in the mean time there was an identical plane there just sitting.
So I asked them why we couldn't take that plane as there was a captain just sitting with us to fly the plane which is now coming from vegas. The rude customer service lady was just like "umm yeah. That plane is for tommorows guests."

Unbelievable!. Btw they will now credit our accounts for $50 to fly with them again within a year. 110% sure I will never fly with such a crappy airline again. Lesson learned: You get what you pay for!!

DO NOT FLY WITH ALLEGIANT!!

i flew allegiant on my way to vegas in june and had no issues. You just ran into one of those freak accidents. Accidents happen, no matter what airline it is. The company is actually doing really well too so i don't think they'll give a damn whether they lose you or not. The bellingham location is bringing in approx 7-10 747 planes to fly to hawaii pretty soon too.

As for the customer service, I found that it was better then a lot of other airlines. The planes are small and out of style, but what can you expect for a cheap rate and a 2 hour flight.

My flight cost me $30 there and a $60 return flight.
Your expectations are way too high for a cheaply booked flight.. nuff said

Sure I can, when I only paid $300 to fly out of YVR and stay at the Wynn.

I've taken Allegiant Air to fly to Vegas a lot over the past couple of years and no issues with the flight (well I don't like the ancient flight attendants they have) ...

I had lots of problems with big named airlines though with planes not working and delays for hours with no info at all from the desk so if I thought the same way the OP did then I'd be bashing almost every single US carrier easily but people have to understand that things like this happen ...

Rude customer service agent aside, how do you know that "identical plane" was ready to go? How do you know it wasn't scheduled for maintenance overnight - cleaning, mechanical checks, fueling... you know, little things like that.

Flown with them several times (Mesa/Vegas),nothing bad to say about them. Its a cheap service and you get what you pay for, but they give you everything you need for a pretty good price.

i had same experience with op.. booked one.. due to fog, my 3PM got delayed.. and ended up being cancelled.. then they told us we have to fly with 10PM plane and when 10 PM arrived, they announced there is not enough seat for everyone to get on board.. so original 10PM passengers got seated first, which I wasn't happy about.. half of 3PM passanger ended up not being able to fly that day.. But they did try their best to accomodate us best they can...
I still fly with allegiant occasionally.. paying from as low as 70$ round trip per person to vegas to $350 depending on which days of week I fly...
Shit happens, move on..

Took Allegiant this weekend for Vegas. Positive experience.

Only complaint is towards the Bellingham airport itself. They definitely need to expand the actual airport terminal and claims section. Getting in, 300 people were waiting and trying to look for their luggage in that tiny baggage claims area was a complete gong show.

I've done Allegiant to get from Bellingham to Vegas multiple times. A <10Hr delay is nothing compared to the insane amount of $that you would save by flying from YVR to Vegas. I saved at least $250 by on my recent roundtrip to Vegas over the May long weekend. YMMV.

Took Allegiant last weekend to Vegas early Thursday morning, and back on Sunday in the evening.

No major complaints, but for the trip back, they decided to change the plane at the last minute, which meant we had to go to another gate on the other side of the terminal, and the cabin was retardedly hot until we got high into the air and got cooler air blowing through the overhead vents. It was like 43°C in Vegas the entire weekend we were there, but sitting there in the cabin waiting for takeoff was the most uncomfortable part of the entire trip!
