Officers: Violation history?

Of the drivers you pull over for some sort of infraction or random check, do the majority of them have clean driving histories or have they accumulated many infractions in the past?

Many people have 2-3 tickets, some people have over a dozen, and some have none.

Many times it is a member of the RCMP air miles programme.....ie frequent flyers...and usually the worst drivers have the worst previous driving histories. Stopped one guy and gave his his 15th no seatbelt ticket....frequently GLP drivers with no N vts have has several previous convictions for the same thing. People who make it a choice to ignore the laws usually continue to do so and therefore attract more Police attention.

How often are the license plates randomly scanned? You mention that the 'repeat offenders' attract attention, but if it's things like no seatbelt or not displaying N, how can you tell that, without being lucky to randomly scan that plate?

many plates are run without the vehicle being stopped, usually its not "random" because in most cases the drivers have done something to attract attention to them or their vehicle.

Typically people who decide to break a law do so with other laws as well. This does not mean that they commit any more or less crimes than other people, it is just that if they do not see the harm in one law, they may or may not see the harm is a similar law.
