Ford Fiesta Sedan, Civic Sedan, or Ford Focus?

I'm looking for a car that won't cost me more than 17 grand tax incl. Pretty much point A to point B car but also very reliable. I know the Civic and the Focus have very good ratings, but from Consumer Reports the Civic edges the Focus by a small amount in terms of longevity. Can anyone add something to that?

Also, has anyone heard anything about the Ford Fiesta in terms of reliability, etc etc.

Thanks for any help guys and gals

Focus parts are more expensive in my experience.

I think you should get the Civic, cant go wrong with japanese. Gas is cheap, parts are cheap and all mechanics know there way around a honda ( i brought my focus to 3 different mechanics before they could figure out that my ebrake was messed). All in all when your on the streets you see more civics on the road than focus's which means civics are more reliable and overall cheaper in the long run. Not saying focus is a bad car but i mean compared to civics they suck.

Fiestas arent in the category of civics/focus. Fiestas are in the catergory of Hyundai Accent/Mazda2/Honda Fit and fiestas just came out so i doubt alot of people know how reliable they are

Hope that helped

I've got a 06 civic (a coupe though) and its a great car. Easy to work on and good gas mileage. Personally I think the interior is much better than a ford. Also parts are readily available as well. The only thing I've changed so far is brakes, oil and tires.

The new Fiesta is pretty sick. They're awesome on gas and pretty affordable too.

The Civic's definitely a great car, I own a DX-G sedan and am loving it. Just to warn you though, anything below my model lacks power locks, and I got mine for 21 grand out the door.

Picked up mine for under $14k last year. You could probably get a really good EX for that money.

The fiesta is a good car, however the 4 door doesn't look all that good. And to add the base price is great but once with all the options it' like 22-24k which is quite a bit for a small car.

The focus is nice, you can get microsoft sync with it and it's fantastic to use. However there should be a full refresh coming soon, and it's going to be based on the euro focus. The focus we got now hasn't really changed since it was launched.

All in all if you want something reliable get the civic, if price is your main thing get the civic (of fiesta if you want the base model).

I would say take the Fiesta, a co worker is planning to get one and he said there is a 60 month 0% finance. Don't quote me for it though.

I say Fiesta... however, the Euro Focus is coming and I think that's worth waiting for if you want a slightly bigger car than a Fiesta.

You can already get Euro Focus platform cars here. Mazda 3's and Volvo C30's.

from what little i've read in reviews, the ford fiesta sedan is not as good as the hatchback. and the sync setup is not available for the fiesta (something about being euro model and they don't have sync over there so the car would have needed too much work to retrofit?)...

Me and a buddy both went shopping last month for new cars,, and we BOTH ended up geting Fod Focus Sedan SES editions, (with the Sports suspension, 17" and Front and rear sway bars)

Its got it ALL, Color lights, SYNC (yes it REALLY is as good as people say), and best of all, it was same price as basic Civic DX-G. And killed it in Handling etc.

The only ay the Civic beat the Focus was with the Si. Yes With the SI, civic wins but at 25K+ no Way. We got GREAT deal for our Focuses now and with 0 down and 0% for 60 momnths.... How can you miss.

After all, The Focus is a Mazda 3 sedan (chassy) in a ford sheetmetal body.

Oh bTW, for the hayers, I used to own a Focus SVT, Civic Si Coupe, and Integra...among other..so yes, i have driven and owned previous versions of these 2 cars before (as some of you who knows me have seen hehe), and Ford just Has the BEST deal going... period.

Not exactly. Your Focus is the older C170 platform. The Mazda 3 is the newer C1 platform (which is what the european Focus uses).
