Where to Find a Automatic Transmisison 5th Gen Prelude

I have been looking everywhere and apparently the most commonly sought part is the Automatic Transmission from a 5th Gen 1997-2001 Honda Prelude h22a4 engine.

Anyone know places that may carry these or anyone who might have one?

Get it rebuilt. Likely a used one will suffer the same problems down the road. I had a 97 and getting rid of it was the best decision I've made yet. I drive a tsx now and I change the ATF every other oil change because I know Honda makes terrible automatically and so far it still shifts like the day I bought it.

If it makes you feel better, the tsx is pretty much the most reliable car we sell. Not once in the last 3 years have I seen a tranny problem with the tsx's. I'm actually looking to pick one up in the future, and its about the only car that I wouldn't mind picking up an auto. Would still prefer the 6spd though =)

1st year where they introduced the 5speed steptronic..so lots of issues here...my sisters lude had her transmission replaced not too long ago..having your car suddenly disengage gears in the middle of driving is not fun..

wreckers should have plenty. lots of ppl do the 5 speed swap due to weak 5th gen auto tranny.

after owning a couple hondas with bad trannys ( prelude odyessy) its left a bad taste. Everything else is great about the cars its just now i service the tranny every other oil change. Considering fluid is 25 bucks for 3 qts its good insurance. After 110k the only thing ive done is the fluids, brakes and cabin filter and thats pretty much all you need to do.

btw they never had a 5sp auto for a prelude they were all 4sp auto or 5sp manual.

Thanks everyone, I have called around wreckers and had them call around for me... Apparently Auto Transmission are impossible to find for a 5th Gen. First thing to go when the car comes into the yard
