Taste of a new hobby, and a callout to enthusiasts

Hello empty forum, slipping away to a barren wasteland devoid any kind of life. Not a single postwhore in site, or even a n00b to get into a flamewar with.

Not entirely something I've been innocent of helping. Once things started drying up here, I've pretty much only been surfing the Vancouver side, and cars haven't been my focus for a couple years.

Anyway, I got a taste of a new hobby the other day which I found was pretty exciting. I went skydiving in Campbell River, and did the first jump course to jump solo from 3,000 feet.

A family friend used to instruct there and I talked about him with my instructor as well as about the sport and the people in it. I was reminded of when being a car enthusiast was my priority, and my memories, experiences, and friendships formed mostly through this message board.

I think no matter what the scene or hobby or industry, there's those that pass through, or have an interest, and then those that become enthusiasts. The enthusiasts really bite into something to see what it's really about, and achieve what they feel they are capable of achieving before either circumstances or or priorities change.

I know I'm an enthusiast, and it's almost impossible for me to just hold a passing interest in something. I'm sure I'm not alone here, this was a place for enthusiasts. What have some of you other guys moved on to and spent the last couple years doing?

For myself, after cars, it was partying which turned to organizing and promoting my own, to throwing weeklies at a nightclub, and now to co-hosting a radio show. Priorities change however, so while that will still be a part of me, it's cooling down. Onward and upward.

My Stealth is still sitting, it's become a prize for myself once I'm where I'd like to be financially. Sometimes I find myself looking through used car ads and wanting a cool car, something sporty, something fast. I forget I already have that in the garage waiting for me. I just need to earn it back again.

Well, this post about what I did on the weekend turned into a fucking novel. Here's a pic from the other day. Anyone else on here skydive? I can see myself doing this some more, how can I move on when I haven't jumped from 10,000 feet yet? I want to experience that freefall, wonder if this will be the next hobby, and the next community, that occupies me for a few years.

I co-host The Massive from 9pm to 11pm Monday nights on CHLY 101.7FM broadcast from Nanaimo. Podcast will be up soon.

It's a dance music show, featuring local events, artists, and DJs as much as possible. DJs sometimes play live on air from the studio as well such as Rennie Foster recently (one of the headliners at VEMF, the Victoria Electronic Music Festival).

Everything from techno to grimy dubstep, nu-school breaks to liquid DnB, everything in-between.

I couldn't see myself really sinking into skydiving like with cars. You're changing places but essentially doing the same thing. Still awesome and I've barely gotten my feet yet though.

Been working out and getting active as well, dropped like 60lbs since back in the RS haydays. BEST PERK is most of the girls doing extreme sports and active stuff are FIT! Hell yes to meeting fit women while I'm on my adventures!

I miss Tamas! Haven't caught wind of him on here in a long time.

Think I'm going jumping again next weekend. Got a better shot from the video I got from it

I haven't put much time or money into any of my vehicles the last couple of years. The car is in the garage. The Blazer started needing too much work, so I bought a new Ranger in the spring. I am on to many different things now, so I just wanted an inexpensive yet reliable vehicle that would help me do other things.

Since getting into other things, I have been doing the following: floor hockey, ice hockey, snowboarding, scuba diving, fishing... probably forgetting something. I am acting like a 20yo too... concerts, bars, partying, whatever. Next up: learn to play the guitar. Kayaking is also on the list of things to do.

Anyways, the T/A still sits waiting to be resurrected. I thought I was going to play less hockey this year and therefore have more time for the car... nope.

BTW... Coal, how are ya man? Been years!!

I rarely post on RS anymore it seems, I'm still alive and kicking as well. My recent hobby has been photography but I've always wanted to try skydiving! Coal a few friends and coworkers are quite into the local DnB / Dubstep scene and have put on a few shows locally, maybe you need some mixes?

^ There's a good chance I know them! I'm always down for mixes, hook me up

I got to support my friend Chemikal for a bit last night at the Hush DJ competition, that was fun!
