Need a battery for a BMW E39 540

Any recommendations for where to get a battery? I read the bimmer forms and looks like I need a vented one and they mention Douglas makes the OEM ones. Who sells those around here?

VW one is much cheaper than OE. It is the same size and same contractor. Douglas has branched out and no longer the only one who makes the OE ones. Interstate has slightly more amps and larger in size but also in price.

Here is mine, installed in my X5.

The extra wire/plug is to my CTek battery tender.

Thanks. I need a GR 49 battery, will just get the same size to avoid problems with fitment. Where exactly are the vents on the battery?

Vents are to the top of left or right on the side (basically off where the + and - signs). There are a plug which you can remove for either left or right operation vents. Take care when you remove the old vent tube, chances are the plastic has become aged by the sulfuric acid and will snap.

find a shop that sells interstate batteries and order one specifically for your make and model. Interstate makes great batteries.

I have the exact same car and there's an Interstate battery that will fit perfectly in the original location. The battery model number is MTP-93
