Did you cut down on booze?

Didn't want to post this in other forums cause don't want it to turn into another debate about the law changes, but feel free to move.

Basically, with the stricter impaired driving law, have you cut down on ordering a drink or two with your meals out? Not talking about going out heavy drinking or parties, but more like your casual beer with steak, or sake with sushi.

Yep. Was out for dinner with a few friends tonight. Normally I would have a beer or two with my meal and not worry about driving after.. But tonight I decided not to drink at all. I'm sure a lot of other ppl are making the same decision and it has to be costing pubs and restaurants hugh

Ditto. The problem for me is, I don't understand what .05 means so I'd rather not put myself in that situation.

haha read this on the province too, i predict it'll probably get worse and keep dropping. of course, upside is that there's less drunk drivers. which is great, but i still want my beloved beer.

Richmond is really hammering on D&D, there were so many people who got caught.

I think people are now going to keep drinking down to just 2 beers. I think people will really limit to what they drink and usually won't go over 3 drinks.

Can someone confirm? it doesn't matter how late your last drink was. my friend say, oh, u just drank ur last sip 5 min ago, you're going to blow over.. it doesn't work that way.. does it... it's based on you body and blood absorbing the alcohol....

The thing thats kept me from having those few light drinks isn't the change to the 0.05 but the fact that they are having more roadblocks. Well from what I've seen there seems to be more roadblocks since they've implemented this law. Almost every Friday since I have seen or heard that there have been roadblocks setup on the Arthur Liang coming back into Richmond.

everyone knows if you're gonna drive drunk, you never cross bridges. 10 minute ride max if you're hammered. only retards go for across city cruises. or the really drunk.

dui is a learned skill. gradually starting with a few buzzed drives, then you trust your skills and can drive home absolutely shittered. of course this helps if you have some inherent physical skill. a feeble person in life isn't going to become graceful with booze. balance and things of that nature. it also helps to know your route home. the more familiar the better. it helps to be a lush.

/satire...?

Didn't really change anything for me. I live so close to downtown Victoria that I just walk everywhere. If I had to drive somewhere, I'd limit myself to one beer anyways.

I would never tell a copy when I had a beer or two even if I know I would be under. Whats the point. If you ever say you've had a drink, their going to breathalize you. If you say you didnt, and you breathalize over, their is no difference between blowing over then and blowing over when the cop asked you and you said yes. Same penatly.

I don't want to run the risk of getting caught and getting a driving suspension (or whichever penalty I'd be given). So yes, it has definitely stopped me from ordering that extra cocktail during dinner/party. I'm not going to let alcohol ruin my record or get me in any kind of trouble.

The limit was always 0.05. 0.08 was just criminal limit. Under 0.08, you could still get a ticket for impaired driving and have a 24hr suspension.

and I always liked driving, because it gave me a good excuse not to drink. If I drank, I'd rather actually have a few, 1 beer doesn't really do it for me. I enjoy the taste, but can't justify the cost... that and I hate having to pee a lot.

Whenever I had a drink before, I'd tell the cop what I had to drink and how long ago. I never had very much to drink (usually a shot and a beer) and I always drank a lot of water after. I'd also give it a few hours before hitting the road. But that was like 10 years ago.

I live downtown now and drink a lot more during dinner. Of course I just walk home now so it's not a big deal to me. I drink about the same now as I did before the new laws came into affect.

Yeah, I don't drink now during dinner. Mind you, I'm not a big drinker, only drink at big events when there's time to plan ahead, but now I won't order that drink with dinner that I did once in a while in a blue moon before.

It doesnt affect me at all cuz I never drink outside of my home or my frd's home. I could get as wasted as I want.

As for clubbing, what's the point of getting wasted there? 1 shot is more than enough to give u the confidence to mack on all the chicks in there. Anything more u'll not be able to feel the satisfaction of making out with a hot chick. U'll just feel drunk.

this is why you either drink close to home, or at home, or befriend your neighbours.

or.... get a girlfriend that hates liquor!

but in all seriousness, i've been cabbing way too much now.
