Not even going to ask what kind of powder, but if you can get a hold of a pill in the form of a capsule, you can empty it out and use it to measure. Frugal Asian style, LOLOLOL.

You know...... Tylenol type where you pull the capsule apart. You must have some expired shit lying around, yes?

EDIT: nevermind........ just realized how small 10mg is, LOLOLOL

Time to hit up the old chem teacher from high school.

I was gonna suggest checking w/ local universities for old equipment ... then I looked up the price of analytical balances. They're over $3000 lol

I found this on amazon
http://www.amazon.com/American-Weigh-Gemini-20-Portable-Milligram/dp/B0012TDNAM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1363279264&sr=8-1&keywords=0.001
Won't be super accurate (each measurement will vary about 1 mg)

EDIT:

Here's where all the illegitimate "chemists" buy their scales:

http://www.oldwillknottscales.com/la...-balances.html

Ideally you want a scale that measures one or two decimal spaces beyond what you're measuring for it to be accurate

does anyone know where I can buy these locally? I've gotten some from asia when friends visited there, but they eventually break. I've only seen them once here at richmond night market and they were like 10 bucks each as opposed to like 1 or 2 dollars in asia.

They're called by several names such as kikbo, jianzi, chinese hacky sack, etc.

Beds Bath and Beyond has the exact one you want, but the reviews are less than stellar. Perhaps they have other ones there.

Superstore has those - they sell them as fold-up shopping baskets, or something. Absolutely love them - they tetris nicely into the cart, and into the back of the car, and then fold down flat. They have them in two sizes, as well.

I think it was something like $4.99 for the larger ones and $2.99 for the smaller, something along those lines. Not bad. They have the small handles like in the picture, and larger strap handles for carrying like a shopping bag. I couldn't find them on the website... if they're out, I'll sell you a couple of mine... for a small premium

I bought 2 of those exact same ones in the picture from dollarama for only $2 each and decent quality too.

It'd called Maurice Foldable Storage Organizer 11" x 11" x 11"
