I've never seen, or tasted one before, but my dad talks a lot about the cakes from Woodward's. He remembers the frosting being super sugary and a little hard... not like a buttercream, or whipped cream. This frosting held the chocolate sprinkles around the sides of the cakes, which he says was awesome. He also remembers the flower decorations on top were made of pure sugar; pink and baby blue in colour and rock hard, but he still ate them he says. lol.

Anyway, I guess if anyone would know what he's talking about, it would be MG1...?

Yes, yes, I do. I want to cry right now........... the cakes were really good, but like everything else, the memories can be bigger than life. I keep telling my kids about the UBC cinnamon buns and how unbelievably great they were. I hear there are recipies out there and they have been recreated. I don't know.........I just want to hang onto the memories...... kind of hard to explain.

My wife, who grew up in the same neighbourhood as me, DTES, remembers the Woodward's white cake with lemon filling. She hasn't tasted anything close to being that good to this day. Her favourite was the orange twists that were cake type doughnuts with a simple glaze made with pieces of orange peels - only available at Woolworths (the 15¢ store, as many called it). My all time favourite was the choux cream puffs from Pacific Bakery on Powell Street. I remember the lady who worked behind the counter. Big lady. First Nations, I believe. The nicest lady you will ever meet. Big smile and a warm heart. Gawd, I miss the neighbourhood.

Anyway, you cannot buy those cakes, OP. I can search the world for those choux cream puffs, but nothing will ever be as good.

Do you think it would taste the same/how you remembered it to be if you ate it right now? I have had moments where I found stuff, for example, Hostess Pies from the gas station, which I remembered were the best things in the world as a kid. Had one a couple years ago and I couldn't even finish more than half@

Sometimes memories are better than reality... sometimes reality just changes over time. Those Hostess Pies are probably not made anywhere near the same as they were in your youth (or even my youth). Heck, I remember a LOT of snacky things used to be a lot bigger and more generous when I was a kid... Wagon Wheels were freakin' huge compared to today! Maybe things just seemed bigger then since I had smaller hands and they were more of a treat... but I'm pretty sure they're actually MADE smaller these days, too... and using things like "chocolaty coating" rather than actual chocolate.

^Wagon Wheels are hella smaller nowadays. Just like Reese's peanut butter cups.

Back to Spidey's question. Yes, it would probably not taste the same, hence, I just want to hang onto the memories.

It's a long shot, but I lost my Coleman Personal 8 cooler. It was at least 25 years old. Till the day I lost it, it worked like new. It was beat up, because it took a lot of abuse. They don't make 'em like they used to. Anyway, brand new ones go for like 100 bucks on eBay. Used ones a lot less. I've heard they stopped making them not that long ago. I want to buy a new one. I'm hoping someone has seen one at a hardware store - forgotten in some corner.

Here's what I'm looking for......

Coleman Personal 8qt Poly Lite Cooler Reviews. Product reviews of Coleman Personal 8qt Poly Lite Cooler at Shopping.com

I will reward the person who finds it for me........... let's say a free Ikea Breakfast.

Edit: If you happen to have one in very good condition, I will buy it from you.

Like the song goes, "You don't know what you've got till it's gone." I've sat on the thing, used it as a step stool, I've thrown it at people and animals, I've gone to many concerts and events with it, it has seen its share of..........did I mention it floats? nuff said.

Anderson quick disconnects are available at
1) any off road store since they're used by Warn for their winches but only come in red and pricey,
2) Princess Auto has them but they aren't Andersons and don't really look the same,
3) electric forklifts use them, so any forklift dealer will have them,
4) Polar Battery on Boundary

What size are you looking for? SB175's or 350's? They are available in different colours but they won't connect together unless they are the same colour.

I can get you a pretty good deal if you want them.

You will have to compromise on either the "high quality" or on "<$120" There is almost no way you will meet both of these criteria.

Anyone know where you can get good quality weight belts/back support belts from?

My doctor said occasionally she has police officers come in needing a doctors note to get similar back support/weight belts for their job but she did not know where they were going to get them? I need Somthing like that I can wear all the time for core support etc?
