| Does Revscene DJ?
Noticed there wasn't a thread like this in the Music Board.
Does anyone DJ here on Revscene? I'm starting to get into it myself.

Cool! Can anyone give me some tips on buying equipment?
I'm slowly stopping to care on the price, but I want the most bang for my buck.
The VCI-300 is apparently a good beginner MIDI Controller, any opinions?

I use Trance and House tracks mainly, since they're kind of easy to use.
This is just a small hobby I hope to get into.
I'm probably just going to end up mixing, and I aim to use vinyl if I really get into it.
What do you guys use?

I mainly use a TTM 57SL mixer for Serato, coupled with Technics SL-1200MK2PK tables. It's a simple setup, and is great for all levels of DJing.

i wouldnt recommend the hercules controller, if your looking to do some scratching the jog wheels are a bit too small. the vci-300 is a great tool to start with doesnt cost as much as the ns7 but same functionality. the vci-300 has low latency midi signal and larger jog wheels.if your just mixing music and not doing much scratching other then the occasional back spin the hercules line of controllers are good to beatmatch and work well with virtual dj.

I know this is an old thread but didn't want to start a new thread.
Quick question:
Do you guys think people lose interest in a set if:
A) The song is too long [lets say 5 mins+]
OR
B) When you play just the "best part" of a song [eg the chorus] and keep changing from one song to another

Depends what you are playing. Trance is made to go like a roller coaster. You need buildups or else the drops won't be drops. House is just an all out wild shitfest.

You'll just never see anyone using traktor at clubs.. | That's mainly because the clubbing scene here in Vancouver lacks Traktor boxes for DJs to use. SSL is great, but has a somewhat "fixed" interface, as opposed to Traktor's, which is pretty flexible as far as midi / effects customization goes. That being said, you'll find a lot of EDM DJ's taking on Traktor over SSL.
For starter DJ's, SSL is definitely an excellent choice based on it's simplicity.
